Kentucky Bourbon Trail

Wife and I are taking a last-minute trip to Louisville/bourbon Trail. We have a whole day set up on Friday. Because it’s such a short trip, we are doing carry-on luggage for our flights. What do we do if we buy bourbon at the distilleries? Do they ship Back to Louisiana? Or is there some type of third-party shipping? Need to advise because I definitely want to take some bourbon back home with us but do not want to check a bag flying back into Lafayette and waiting for luggage is miserable TIA.

Box up what you buy some with bubble wrap and either check it, or find a UPS or Feddx and ship it home

I live in Louisville and I ship bourbon to buddies back home through UPS. Just tell them it’s snow globes although the workers really don’t care but they have to ask

You would have to ship your "olive oil" yourself. You can also check up to 6 750 in your checked bag.

The problem with shipping liquor; first and foremost, is that it’s illegal unless you have the appropriate permits. You run the risk of the package being seized and could be subject to a fine. If you do decide to ship, use UPS or FedEx. Using the USPS is technically a federal offense.
From a more practical standpoint, bourbon bottles are not of uniform size or shape like wine or beer bottles. This makes finding a shipping container for them extremely difficult/impossible.
Personally, I would buy a cheap piece of luggage in Louisville and some bubble wrap. Wrap the bottles and layer in some clothes for extra cushion.
Check the luggage containing the bottles on your flight back home.
