So were heading down to Cancun and I see the ferry to Isla Mujeres looks like a cool thing to do. Question is what is there to do once you get there? Is it just a matter of walking around and shopping?

Isla Mujeres is awesome. You'll wish you had stayed there. Lunch at Soggy Peso if you're there on hamburger day. Great burgers.
Go to the southern most point on the island and pay a couple of dollars to get into Punta Sur. All the way down near the tip are paths that take you right down to the water (well almost) and the water there is spectacular in its' beauty and the currents. It's not water I'd think of getting in but the path is very cool. At the extreme north end of the island is Playa Norte which a very pretty beach and Hidalgo Street is close by for food, drink and shopping.

We stayed at Villa Rolandi for our honeymoon 14yrs ago this week. It was awesome. Their restaurant was top notch Italian if you want a change of pace... Casa Rolandi.
