I lived here in the late 1970's for 4 years, when growing up. It was a little rough at the time, but Port Townsend was "discovered", and a lot of the old Victorian homes and buildings were renovated and the town is stunning - worth spending a day or two in, for sure.

We go every time we visit my grandma in Sequim.
Sirens on the water is great, we'll typically take the ferry in from Whidbey Island and grab lunch there.
The whole Olympic Penninsula is fantastic, spending summer out there is an absolute blast.

One of my Facebook friends posted this link, so I thought I would share it.
Port Townsend was supposed to be the biggest port in the PNW, back in the 1870's. The city was booming and many beautiful homes and government buildings were erected. The economy took a nosedive and the railroad that was being built to connect Port Townsend with California and the rest of the country was redirected to the east side of the Puget Sound, and some little fishing village over to the east got real big after that. Let's just say, we were very close to having the Port Townsend Seahawks in the NFL.
The town's population plummeted, and all of those beautiful buildings were basically abandoned for almost 100 years, and many have only recently been restored. The town is surrounded on three sides by water and the views are spectacular of the water and the mountains.
Port Townsend is where the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" was filmed, and the hotel where they stayed on the water is actually called "The Tides Inn".

cool town but shuts down early. Happen to run into a woman that was from BR who moved there with her husband to open a weed store.
def. check out the movie theater, Coolest theater i have ever watched a movie at.
hotels sucked so we stayed in the top rated B & B which i suggest because Dave is killing it with gourmet breakfast and its real nice and updated unlike the hotels I saw
