Fiance and I will be going there tomorrow through Sunday. I've never been before.

We have a few things on our list to do - the obvious things: We are going to tour the White House, hit up some museums and monuments, Ford's Theatre, go to Mount Vernon.

Was looking for idea of good bars/restaurants to hit up at nights - or other lesser-known things to do that might be fun.

get a Capitol tour set up through your Congressman or Senator. I'll be there next week. Just got confirmation of the WHite House tour. it is the same time as the Bureau of Engraving tour

Anyone know of a place to store a backpack around the White House?

Union Station has bag/luggage storage for a fee.

Union Market is an indoor food hall w/various vendors, near Gallaudet U, on 5th St NE near Brentwood Parkway. Expands to include some outdoor vendors on weekends. LINK

Folks often overlook the Botanical Garden near the Capitol; it has a nice collection of edible tropical plants: black pepper vine, cacao trees, vanilla orchids, etc in the tropical environment glass house.

Get the Washington Post on Friday and check out the Weekend section...

Go to 14th Street for dinner/drinks. There are a lot of great places there for both.
