I know St Lucia is a big honeymoon spot so we have booked our honeymoon there for July...staying at the Sandals Grande. Any tips on trips or tours that we must do? I've heard you can take car or helicopter in to your resort is the helicopter worth the money? I'd like to do some fishing also who's the best for that?

Joe Knows.

All day speed boat tour. I would go back to St. Lucia just to do that again. Crazy guys. Rum punch. great sights.

You can book through Sandals.

Take the helicopter from the airport to the resort. Definitely get in some scuba diving/snorkeling.

The water there is unbelievably clear and the best part is that it's not salty at all. I could open my eyes completely underwater with no issues.

Sorry I don't, but it's probably on the website for whatever resort you'll be at (there's like 3 Sandals there)

We stayed at the Grande. For sure do the Joe Knows or the excel tour. There will be vendors on the beach so dont be afraid to talk to them about it. We did hike the "mountain" that is right next to the resort one morning. Dont take it lightly because it was pretty tough. Other than that, none of the other excursions really stood out to me. The drive there isnt that bad, plus you get to see real st. lucia during the drive. It is about an 1.5 hour long ride.

A couple of pieces of advice:

1. When you land at the airport and get your bags. There will be guys with dollies trying to take your luggage to the sandals resting point. Do not let them take your bag because it is literally a 10 step walk out the door and they will expect a tip.

2. Do restaurant reservations for dinner the first day you are there for the entire week. The good restaurants book up. We really liked the restaurants at the La Toc resort much better so we ate there 3 nights of the 7. You will have to do reservations for these as well. The french restaurant at La Toc was one of the best meals i have ever had. We ate there 2 nights because it was so good. I actually think the name is La Toc as well.

3. If you want to go snorkling through the resort, you need to reserve your spots at least a day before. You will probably want to do it more than one day.

If I think of anything else I will try to add it later.

CivilDawg thanks for the advice. Any kind of dress code for the restaurants?

Yeah for dinner some of them require long pants and collard shirt I believe. At least the nicer ones do.

Stayed at the Grande as well and really enjoyed it.

This is the best piece of advice for sure. Also if you walk from the Grande to pigeon island fort (which I would recommend going to) there will be guys walking around trying to sell you stuff or making stupid little flowers and such from plants who will also expect a tip. If I would have been in the US I would've told them to frick off but being in a foreign country I just bit the bullet and tipped them.

That was really the only complaint I had about the place was the fact that there were locals everywhere wanting to sell you stuff and trying to get money off of you. And when you're American you stick out like a sore thumb.

Other than that we really enjoyed the place, the Grande is a fantastic resort. We did snorkeling twice which I would highly recommend. And the restaurants were great also. Book a cabana for a day and relax, that was something we really enjoyed.

This is also definitely a must and check out doing a private dinner on the beach, it was well worth it.

Solid advice so far.

We went 3 years ago. We did the car ride. Sort of long but you get to see the island. I remember some of the driving around the mountains scared the shite out of me

Excursion wise. We did the snorkeling with the boat ride. I think we also did the rum cruise. That was fun and nice to be out on the sunset.

We also did the hot springs. They take you to a botanical garden then to the mud Springs. That's a must in my opinion.

Food was better than I expected.

Vendors on beach were sort of annoying.

The mountain and old Fort area next to the resort was great. Definitely go hike that one day.

This...amazing excursion. Make some friends at the resort and have them do the tour with you. We got did that with 2 couples that we connected with on the trip and it was an absolute blast.

This as well. Top 3 best meals of my life and I've hit most of the majors in Nola.
