Hamburg to Berlin via train

Has anyone taken the train from Hamburg to Berlin? If you have, is there a way to bring luggage aboard the train, like 3 suitcases?

You will have no problem with your luggage on Europe trains. Room above or next to your seat. Worst case - you have to keep a suitcase near the exit where people store their bikes. Just keep an eye on it when the train stops.

Thanks, was unsure for the larger pieces that would not fit above the seat. Could not find where the larger pieces were stored, but you provided an answer, appreciate it.
Have you visited these two cities? We disembark from a cruise in Hamburg, but I am unsure if I want to spend a day in Hamburg or head off to Berlin for three days.

Yeah, don't stress about the luggage. Got married in Europe and used trains - we had no problem with our many pieces of luggage including a large roller for wedding dress.
No experience with northern Germany. But since the cruise is letting you off in the middle of Hamburg it would be pretty convenient to spend 24 hours to see what the city center / old town has to offer.

I swore I had a thread on my trip to Berlin last February on here, but I can't find it. Let me keep looking for it, in the meantime I'd definitely suggest exploring berlin for at least two days. Had no idea it's a popular night city, they have free walking tours that will take you to all the historical areas during the day or all the clubs at night. I'm going back the end of February this year for a week so can update you on how things are going there

Hamburg is nice enough but Berlin is great. I have been to Berlin 3 times and still found new stuff to check out the third time.

Thanks for the information from everyone. Will be there in April. We will be away from home for almost a month so my wife wants to head back home from Hamburg, but I am saying I am "this" close to Berlin, we have to spend a few days.
