Trying to pin down lodging for the second leg of our Greece trip coming up in June. We have three days in Santorini.. is staying in/around Oia a must ? Seems like the coolest area to walk around and explore but I’ve never been and would like to hear from some of y’all that have. Thanks in advance.

I don’t think you have to stay in Oia. We stayed down on the southern side but had no problem getting to oia as we needed.

Now it may be best for sunsets or selfies to stay in oia.

I don’t think it is necessary. I stayed at Istoria in Perissa last summer and had a blast.

We stayed on the otherside of the island and really enjoyed it. Although driving around in those ATVs is pretty damn dangerous

We’re going for the first time this coming May. 3 nights in Santorini and we are staying in Thera. Have dinner reservations in Oia one night and will spend an afternoon there to catch a sunset. Other than the view, Oia seems to be isolated from the rest of the island- at least that’s what I’ve gathered from my research.

Really appreciate the replies. I have fully flexible booking already in Ivermigli(I butchered the spelling im sure ) and it’s seems fairly central to lots of stuff with a good beach. Wife kept mentioning Oia from watching a bunch of YouTube videos on santorini hence my question. I may just hold what I’ve got. Thanks again.

This is the way to go, Oia is very isolated but worth the trip to see the sunset. Our priority was to visit different beaches, Oia was just a one evening event for us.

Wherever you eat, get the tomato fritters. Every meal.

Thanks again for the replies. I think I’m gonna hold what I’ve got in Imerovigli. Seems fairly central with a caldera view from my room.
