another vote for the architectural boat tour!

the art institute has a neat brochure that allows you to follow the paintings that were in ferris bueller

and we have lou malnati's and other deep dish pizza places here in arizona, so we tried piece brewery for new haven style. didn't regret it. it's in wicker park and you can people watch all the hipsters.

also rode bikes for a while along the lakefront trail. may be too cold for that now, but we went in summer. summertime in chicago is a total joy.

Pequods is better than malnatis in my opinion. Malnatis is a close second.

I was able to fit time to do the tour, but realized there's many haha.

Any specific one yal recommend? Wendella has a lot more times/availability, but the one i always hear about is Chicago Architecture Foundation Center River Cruise Aboard Chicago's First Lady

So the good news is that even with the indoor dining ban, you can still hit up some great places as most have built tent cities. Had friends in town from Thursday to today and we hit up Girl and the Goat and Tango Sur.

Since there was a question on Au Cheval - yes, they are open and have a massive tent. I actually think they're serving at a larger capacity than when they were indoor only, so, I'd definitely recommend hitting them up.

For steak - I'd recommend Tango or Bodega Sur or Swift and Sons. There's a TON of great steak houses in the city, but those are my personal favorites.

Regarding the boat tour - it's been some time, but First Lady was top notch when we went a few years ago.

All your other options sound great. Was just at the Art Institute on Friday and there's a massive Monet exhibit there now, if that's your type of thing.

Things are a little different right now, as is the case in most cities, but, you can still have a great trip. Just have to plan a little.

Not sure when you're here but it looks like the unseasonably warm weather we've had the last week or so is set to move out around midweek and get back to seasonal temperatures. Just bring some warm clothes and you should be fine. Most restaurants have heaters and tents as well.

Plus, just an excuse to order some good wine to warm up.

Yes, tour with the boat run by the Chicago Architecture Center. Their museum is also well worth a short visit. I think you get in the museum with a boat ticket or maybe for a few extra bucks. Has some cool models of skyscrapers from around the world.

I also took their “neighborhoods” bus tour and really enjoyed it. Saw way more in a a couple hours than I could ever hope to cover on my own.

Wendella is fine, they all cover architecture and are all basically the same.

One tour takes you out on the lake one tour keeps you on the river. That’s really the only difference between any of them
