Going overseas. How much cash do you bring

How do y'all deal with expenses?
Just use your credit cards? Get euros before you go?
I feel like I've had to be extra vigilant b/c I've been in situations where there was some shady business going on.
Just wondering what others do to avoid that

We aren't the only country with ATMs

How much local currency cash you need to have on you at any time depends on what country you are in. Some take CCs better than others.
Foreign countries have ATMs.
If you feel like that the chance an ATM might not work is out there. Bring a little US Currency for exchange as insurance.
That's it.

Good advice. As a regular traveler to Europe, I bring $150 US cash for exchange upon arrival at the airport only IF the ATMs are down. I can then pay for a cab to the hotel where there are beaucoup ATMs. That being said, I've never had a problem with ATMs in 15 years of travel. But I keep hearing stories about certain airports where the ATMs run out of cash at peak times.

Some countries don't use the USD, I always bring some of the local currency, the currency exchange booths will tear you a new one on the exchange rate.
