Wife and I did the Confederacy of Cruisers tour. Its a tour (several tours available) via beach cruiser. We enjoyed it.

I arrange tours in New Orleans. For cocktail tours, I suggest Gray Line or Drink and Learn. Tastebud does a great food tour. Free Tours by Foot offers some great things. Do one or two tours your first day to get the feel, then explore the city on your own.

This. Even an early morning carriage ride through the quarter is not a bad idea to get a quick tour of that area.

A long, long time ago! I had some Relatives here from Ohio and they wanted to Tour the French Quarter and I actually enjoyed it. I think what happened was there was a group touring and we joined in and followed along!

I have a group of friends from out of town visiting and we are going tour the French quarter area during the day, so I wanted to fill the day with something interesting, besides bar hopping. Which we do later in the evening. The bike tours look nice, and I even thought about doing a Segway tour. Looking for something to fill about a 2-3 hour time.

You can also walk down Royal street to visit the art and antique shops.
I suggest spending very little time on Bourbon at night. Frenchmen Street is better

I've never been to Frenchman street, but always wanted to visit. What bars do you suggest on Frenchman? Also, I had plans to rent a balcony room on bourbon at Four points Sheraton, to people watch at night, so is it safe to walk from Frenchman back to that hotel at night?

Yes safe. I wouldn't do it at 4:30 AM by yourself though. LOL

I like DBA a lot, but you can kind of just walk around and listen to what kind of music is coming from any of the clubs and go visit what you like.

There is a pretty good outdoor market at night right off Frenchman that I like to take guest to see.

Laura Plantation has a tour that-at it's end-connects with a tour in NOLA that goes to the Louisiana Historical Collection, the Pharmacy Museum, St. Louis Cemetary No. 1, connects with American Horror Story and then connects with some of the Laura Family's property in the Quarter.

I am a former History Major and between the Laura tour and the companion French Quarter Tour, it was crack rock for me. The guides, the properties, and the history finally tied in the differences and definitions of things like Creole and Anglo plantations.

We never understood the differences between a place like Laura and Nottoway (where my wife and I were married). They are drastically different in layout, splendor, amenities, etc. But they both managed massive sugarcane cultivation operations. Taking the two tours drove home the differences between them and teaching the cultural and social differences between true Creole plantations and people and their Anglo counterparts.

I can't recommend them both enough.
