For long plane rides, an apple. some good cheddar, and whole grain crackers, plus a 1.5 liter collapsible water bottle (fill after security at a drinking fountain). Soft, roomy socks so I can take off my shoes, comfortable, non constricting clothing in layers, and beaucoup books on iPad. I like moist facial towelettes for pre sleep and upon arrival, a toothbrush and travel toothpaste, and an eye mask. I can sleep on a plane pretty well if I wash my face, brush teeth, and get comfy.

It depends on the length of flights, but good headphones are a must. Other than that, I never go without Advil & a travel charger. For the hotel, I always bring my Roku stick.

Is the TSA Pre check/Global Entry really worth it? I've never purchased but I've also never had an issue. My experience is limited though.

100% yes. GE is awesome if you're coming in and out fairly frequently, and still worth it if only every so often. You don't have to fill out the customs form and you go through a different line than everyone else...much quicker, especially if coming in somewhere like LAX, JFK, etc. Pre also just quickens the process.

I've done it once a year but never had an issue in time. Although I plan on starting to travel overseas more frequently
