Thinking of going to Disney for Mardi Gras 2017, looking at flights and southwest doesn't have any of their low fare tickets available and other airlines seem much higher than in the past.

Dates i'm looking at are Feb 26 - Mar 5.

Am I looking to early or late for the cheap flights?

I see 291 for those dates and 223 if you are willing to return the Monday... This is New Orleans to Orlando

Do you fly southwest often? Meaning more than once a year. Buy whenever, and when the prices change, you can get a voucher to use the difference for another flight within a year.

I'm not seeing the $291, for departing flight on Feb 26 lowest i see is $347 (there are 5 of us flying if that matters)

I do fly southwest 1 or 2 a year.

That link works, thanks. But, with what frontier charges for checked bags SW ends up being the same or cheaper.

SW wanna get away fare says "unavailable" as opposed to Sold out". Any idea why?

My total round trip on Southwest is 501 expensive for a round trip, is the Frontier with checked bags that much?

Sun Feb 26- Mar 5 i'm coming in at $2,614.85 ($522 a person)

If we do Fri Feb 24 - Mar 5 i'm coming in at $1,899.86 ($379.97 a person)

Frontier baggage fees are $45 carry on and $40 checked in. If we have 1 carry on and 4 bags that's an additional $205 total.

Flights out of New Orleans towards the end of Mardi Gras are going to be high demand and pricy.

I've never seen southwest list it like that but yeah...this is my guess. Appears that you're just flying from NOLA during Mardi Gras and prices are really high.

With flight dates on a weekend, normally Southwest will run you AROUND $125-$175 per person, per way (direct) MSY-MCO and back. Could also be that they are adding flights so definitely keep an eye on it.

if I were to book with SW now and they open up the low fare seats can I call them and get a voucher for the refund (good for 1 year)?

Yes. The voucher is good from one year of booking, not when the trip is.

Here's your best option as of right now: book two one-way tickets for your party.

Going to Orlando on Sunday Feb 26: Fly on Frontier. Ticket itself is $315.50 for 5 people, even if you add on baggage of $30 per person, the total is still only at $465.50. If you want to choose seats, the total is $12/person so add $60, grand total of $525.50.

Returning from Orlando on Sunday March 5: Fly on Southwest.
The early morning flight is only $155 nonstop bringing this trip up to $775.

Grand total: $1300.50
