I don't think I've ever seen anything as screwy as trying to book a rental car this summer to be picked up at DEN! Prices all over the place, rates for car classes that don't make sense. And on top of that, Denver is the only place I've seen that has this entire underclass of car rental companies messing with the market as well!

So, what are the board's favorite metasearch sites for finding the best rental car deals?

And are there any good sites that will track these deals over time the way google flights will track flight prices?

TIA!

eta: I just booked(cancelable) a suburban at Enterprise through Orbitz for right at HALF of what the same reservation would cost at enterprise.com. WTH.

I use rentalcars.com to check rates and then go to the company's site and usually a bit cheaper.

I've used kayak the last few times I've booked. They have some good deals that pop up if you don't care which company you use.

Costco travel to get the coupon codes for the rental companies.

Then book direct on the rental car company website. Fast break through budget is a personal favorite.

You should be a Costco member to use their codes but they rarely ask for your Costco card. That being said if you are not a Costco member... You should be

I feel you. I booked a rental for first of June at DEV a month ago. I ended up with an SUV for a compact price through the Advantage cheaper than any discount website. DEV must just be feeling the effects of all that weed.

I guess maybe I got lucky with that fee on Orbitz yesterday. A little nervous that it is too good to be true. But I booked, and have a confirmation with Enterprise for a premium SUV for right at half of any other offer I can find. Even the rate for the same vehicle through Orbitz today. Weird.

Pro tip: If you booked a flex rate, use autoslash.com. The website automatically cancels your current booking and books at a lower rate if one becomes available (across multiple agencies) during the days leading up to your rental.
