So every year we usually do a long weekend at the beach club in Gulf Shores with my dad, brothers family, sisters family and my own. This year my brothers wife is due in July and mine in August. My question is:
Any good family summer vacations locally that don't involve a hot sandy beach for pregnant people? It would also be my Dad's 70th birthday which is why I don't want to cancel all together. Under 4-5 hours from New Orleans if possible
Thanks!

4-5 hrs in any direction other than due East from New Orleans isn't really all that great. I would look into Fairhope or Pensacola.

Maybe a cruise.
Beach trip seems right up pregos needs. Just sit in a chair, walk around on occasion, drive everywhere.
Set up a tent and get some battery operated fans.
I have a Milwaukee 18v fan that will last hours at the beach

Hmm, if you are willing to forgo the beach:
--rent a house at Toledo Bend with a party barge. Float, paddle, fish, build a fire & roast weenies & marshmallows, etc. Plenty of rentals are waterfront w/their own docks.
Stay close to Cypress Bend (golf resort) and your expecting mothers can be treated to a day at the spa. (Every pregnant woman on earth wants a foot massage.)
Drawbacks: someone will need to cook, or you'll have to organize a rotation so different people get the duties each night. And you'll need to buy groceries before you get there.

My wife still bitches about how miserable she was at the beach the summer before our daughter was born.

Go in early May when it won’t be as hot.
