Can anyone fill me in on Fairhope Alabama? The woman I'm dating and I are looking for a nearby place to go spend a night or 2 for a quick getaway and I had someone recommend Fairhope to me. I really don't know anything about it though. Any recommendations on places to stay, restaurants, things to do, etc.?

The Grand in Point Clear is certainly the best place to stay, but it's also pricey. They have a great Sunday brunch there as well. Check out some of the B&Bs in the area too if that's more your thing. There's a Hampton Inn right downtown if you're on more of a budget.

Fairhope's a great small town to walk around, lots of shopping and boutiques I'm sure your lady would enjoy. Right on Mobile Bay as well. Fairhope Brewing Company has a few quality brews and their taproom is a good place to hangout.

Jesse's in Magnolia Springs is my favorite restaurant in that area if you don't mind a short drive. The Wash House is fantastic as well. Sunset Pointe right on the water offers a nice meal in a more relaxed setting.

It's a nice place for a quick trip. The last time we went, we stayed at a B&B called "Away at the Bay". It's right on the bay and has a nice pier. We walked around downtown and had a good meal at Pinzone's Italian. There was a cool place down there that had a bunch of TVs and games on on the same street.

R Bistro is pretty good eats as well. Can be a little pricey as well. Their chef was top 5 rated in the State last year.

eta - They have awesome Crawfish Beignet's.

margarita's were good too.

Thanks for posting this. I've been wondering the same about fairhope, and was thinking of going there as a quick anniversary getaway.

The Grand is a Marriott property - if you are Marriott Rewards, odds are that you will be upgraded.

Jesse's

I like Tin Top - we tend to go later in the evening and avoid the rush

The steak place inside the grand in the evening is not too bad - great service

The breakfast at the grand can be overwhelming - we love to hit the smaller restaurants in town for breakfast and lunch.
