0-6 months is probably the easiest to fly with. Be sure to have extra formula and water (if you formula feed) as you never know when to expect a delay on the tarmac. Do not get caught without a way to feed that baby, for everyone's sake on board.

I flew on 25 flights with mine from 1.5 months old to 1 year old. Every now and then we had a cry/freak out moment but it can almost always be solved with food or the boob.

As others have said - gate check your stroller, I would actually wear my baby through security and to the gate, then on to board and to deplane and walk to baggage. So I had my hands free the entire time and baby was comfy.

When they are old enough to eat - bring all the food and snacks (yes, it all gets past security). After they hit a year - best of luck until they can focus on an ipad around 2. Those are some tough times!!

Ive done quite a few flights both domestic and to Mexico with my infant. It’s my first kid so there was a big learning curve. Few recommendations I have:
Bring the stroller and get a stroller gate check bag (if you don’t get them their own seat, you can pack up extra stuff you don’t need on the plane in it), also baby carrier is great for the airport and plane because you can let them nap in it and still be mobile. I used one of my hats to cover her while see was asleep in it. You also won’t have to wake them when boarding/unloading. I also got a leather play mat that’s been great to put on the ground and let her hang out on it in the airport and also used it on the airplane seat when they didn’t give me one for the car seat but had an extra. I have the doona so it’s a combo stroller/car seat. (Highly recommend) Check with the gate agent if you didn’t buy them their own seat and see if they will give you one. I have had luck with this once or twice but also had to fly with her in my lap. If they do give you a seat, bring the car seat and set it up. Makes life easier. Also make sure to get bottles, toys, etc ready for the flight. Seems dumb to mention but life comes at you quick! Be prepared for blowouts! Unfortunately, I learned my lesson on the tiny regional plane…. No changing table in the lav. Looking back, I should have just gone to the back of the plane with her play mat and used that on the floor to change her but shite happens. Another suggestion is to get the vented cover for the car seat if you are able to bring it on the plane. It makes sleeping much easier. The vented cover (snoo shade) and car seat ramp check bag pack up tightly into small bags when not in use. I use a carabiner to attach them to the doona when not in use. It’s great to bring them along and as someone who travels frequently, I wanted to get her use to it as soon as possible. Check with the airline but usually you get a stroller and car seat checked for free. I travel with the uppababy vista for my main stroller, but check that at the desk. Don’t worry about what other people think when your kid gets upset or cries. It happens and we were all there once. Also, don’t be afraid to walk up and down the aisle to confort them when they are upset or if a big plane, go to the back galley and hang out with the flight attendants. Helps to have the wife along to help out. Hope this info helps and have fun on your trip with your little one! I had many people try and talk me out of traveling with her. I can say I am glad I chose to bring her along!

Thanks a lot!

Right now we are debating. I may end up going solo on the trip. Shes thinking it will be too much work on her and won't enjoy it... we shall see!
