Would be bringing a 12yo and a 10 yo on the experience. Haven't done it yet, worth it? Thoughts either way welcome. (We go yearly)

I'm assuming you are referring to the wizard challenge thing at wdw, if so they will probably love it. The adults in my family tried it out and had a blast. It involves a set of cards and finding spots all over the park with a fun little story. The next day at disney the kids tried it and loved it, it's a great break from the lines and crowds.

Disney has something as well in Epcot based around Ahent P from Phineus and Pherb.

LINK

It's fun if they've never done it and heat to keep them occupied while mom and dad eat and drink around the world.

beyween the characters they can meet, agent p's adventure and some of the cool crafts and such kids can really stay busy in the world
Showcase for a few hours.

The scavenger hunts are all really fun. We have done the Pirates Adventure treasure hunt one in magic kingdom (my favorite- it all happens in adventureland so you don't have to go all over the place, and it's just fun), Sorcerers of the magic kingdom (this one involves trading card like things that you hold up in front of a "portal" and try to "defeat villains"- my 11 year old son and husband LOVE this one, but it sometimes glitches or malfunctions which annoys me...), and the Phineas and Ferb one in Epcot (the kids and I like this one a lot, too- it's kind of like the pirates one in that it makes things happen or appear in places you've walked past a thousand times without knowing there was something cool hidden there). I really recommend them all! There's also the Wilderness Explorer badge scavenger hunt thing in Animal Kingdom which the kids like to do, as well. It doesn't have any technological tricks like the others; the kids have to find different things in the park or listen to someone tell them about something related to the area of the park where they are and the kids get sticker badges to add to a book. The book makes a neat souvenir and you can take them back and pick up where you left off on your next trip (though we've never actually kept up with them to do this or we forgot them at home, etc.).

Just googled- I had never heard of that! Sounds fun. If you do it, report back on how it was. When is your next trip? (Ours is April.)

February (Mardi Gras). It does look fun. I can't believe we've missed doing it.

For the sorcerers one, you need to sign up at the firehouse to the right just past the entrance to mk. It's free, they give you a pack of cards and a short tutorial and send you on your way. Our first stop was to liberty square but I think the quests vary.
