Any recommendations? Doesn't need to be full restaurant, but serving light food, or typically with a food truck would be good.

Trinity Cider is the best cider I’ve had in the US. No food

Braindead Brewing is in Deep Elumm and not that far form Deep Elllum Brewing. Braindead has food, but there are a bunch of good places within walking distance from there.

Union Bear in Plano.
Community is across the interstate from the AAC in downtown.
I second Trinity Cider.
Deep Elum and Braindead in Deep Ellum.

Thanks all! With 2 suggestions each I think it will be Deep Ellum and Braindead. Deep Ellum the area itself was just becoming a thing when I lived in Big D in 86 and 87. Glad t see it is still a thing!

It's becoming gentrified with bars more common in pretentious uptown. Braindead is a good choice but deep ellum brewery is mediocre. Braindead is across the street from Pecan Lodge barbecue which is one of the best in the state. Best brewery in Dallas proper is Celestial and they do have food trucks but I don't see them there that often. If sticking to deep ellum, check out Dots Hop House which has a great Craft beer selection and food or a 5 minute drive from deep ellum is Craft & Growler which has a great selection and food.

Braindead in deep ellum is a brew pub with great beer and really good food.

Deep ellum brewing usually has a food truck and has possibly the best set up as a brewery, but the beer is meh.

Celestial has food pop ups on the weekends usually. Really good beer and a cool spot.

Turning point in Bedford almost much always has a food truck around. Not really the coolest in terms of scenery or things to do, but the beer is great. They do have arcade games all around.

Said no one that lives in Dallas ever. If you're in the burbs, Lonestar Taps & Caps is the best Craft beer bar.

Out of all the places I've been they have the best selection with beer from Houston and other places. Granted I'm wanting more IPA's which they seem to focus on.

Craft and growler and bluffview growler have similar tap lists and are in Dallas proper.

All the main players have the same beers. So it comes down to atmosphere, convenience and proximity to other good beer places and restaurants. If you live in Frisco then C&G checks one of those boxes. and if I lived out there I'm sure I would go there. Praise Allah I don't live out there.

Yeah craft and growler is great, but I found bluffview randomly. their taplist is usually very similar, and it's 5 minutes closer.

While not as extensive, craft beer cellar usually has a great list too.

Yea, and I can walk there..... and they haven't kicked me out....again. But I just don't find the atmosphere to my liking. It's just boring vanilla.

Mission accomplished! Had a great a weekend and got to 4 places. Deep Ellum, Braindead, Bitter Sisters, and Unlawful Assembly. Got adventurous and tried some variety IPA’s at Braindead and Deep Ellum, wasn’t exactly happy with the choices,,,but that’s the fun of craft breweries. Those were both good atmospheres, sitting outside on a nice sunny Saturday and the area was busy. Bitter Sisters ended up being 5 minutes from our hotel, but hard to find at night. No lighting on their signage, and a very small tap room window visible from the street..wouldn’t have found it without GPS. It was a small tap room, but ended up having a good conversation with the folks next to us at the bar and the bartender. Unlawful was probably my favorite beer, and it was in a fun environment at Legacy Food Hall. It helped that it was a busy Friday night. Wish I had had time to check out a few more.
