Where to stay with good access to bar /restaurants, preferrably in waking distance? Or is there a decent food/drink/hotel options near the airport? Tia

I,m headed to Chattanooga myself in early July. Looking at the Springhill suites for a riverview......or staying closer to stuff at the Hampton downtown. I did see that two breweries are nearly across the street from each other on MLK....

Check out the Dwell. It's a really interesting boutique hotel. It's got a bar in it and there are interesting places nearby. I like the Bitter Alibi.

The Dwell

The Dwell was at the top of my list, but it's fully booked on my dates.

The Read House used to be pretty nice, but more recent reviews aren't great.

The Chattanoogan is nice and you can walk to the Main Street bars. Any chain hotel by the riverfront has a lot to do as well.

If you are looking at something off beaten path, we stayed on Lookout Mountain at a bed and breakfast called the Chanticleer, you can walk to Rock City from there.

there is nothing by our airport. When you see it, you will understand.

But depending on when you land, downtown is only 15 minutes away. The chattanoogan is a nice hotel and it's close to the area of the city currently being gentrified, so there are a lot of bars and restaurants in the area. 2 Ten Jack is a ramen house close by that I really like. Hutton and Smith is a good brewery on MLK Dr and Champys fried chicken is basically across the street (good food and the owner is a Br native iirc). Chattanooga Brewing Company is an ok brewery with really good food. Clyde's is a Bar on Main St that is usually pretty fun and has good food and ping-pong /shuffleboard. The flying squirrel is a hipster bar nearby that is ok. Stir is a cocktail bar/restaurant next to the ChooChoo that is ok.

All of these places are walkable from the chattanoogan with exception of H&S but we have Uber here.

Marriott Convention Center by The Chattanoogan isn't bad either if you want Marriott points.

That place is a rip off.

For lunch, yes. For dinner, it's not so bad.

I figured you would come shite on that though.

I love 2 Ten.

I'm still bitter about how much that upcharge was to get that extra stuff on the ramen I preferred.

Thanks for the tips, I appreciate it. Any other food recs? How is the Sunday AM market? I read that it has art/craft and food trucks. Any food there worth bothering about, or is it more about the shopping?

it is. Every weekend has some theme that you can look up online. Go for the arts and crafts, but you would be better off getting brunch somewhere else and then go to the market later.

The market is a pretty decent walk around. Ok food trucks and random do nothings to buy.

Alleia is pretty decent place on Main Street. It's higher end dining for Chattanooga. Main Street Meats has a decent burger, Tremont Tavern on the other side of the river is a better burger IMO, good stop for beer and burger. Tony's in the art district is pretty decent Italian. Café on the Corner on lookout mtn is decent. Few other places scattered around downtown I'm forgetting. We had a thread on the food board that went through a lot of them.

Also, the main St area has one of the top ranked escape room games in the nation if that's your thing.

Slicks is in the main St area and has good burgers too.

Il Primo is better IMO. Directly across the street from Tremont Tavern.

I haven't gotten over there yet, need to try it. My wife always shoots down Italian because she has to go to Tony's all the time with customers. She does the same with Champy's. Pisses me off.

I try to avoid Champys too but mainly because of the boiling lava that pours from my arse after I eat it.

Definitely do not want boiling lava.
Anything worth eating near Rock City? Yes, I will be dragged to Rock City on this trip. Trying to figure out timing/food options to redeem this trip.
