Headed there this June for the first time. Besides spending time in the lake and exploring trails, anyone have any suggestions for other activities in the area and good eats?

Middle of nowhere! Lake life is why you go.

Kayak the Caney Fork.

Check out Rock Island State Park on the south end of lake. It’s a good day hiking all around with lots of waterfalls. You can walk the rocky river bed when the dam is not generating power. Eat at the Rock Island Market at the park entrance

This. There's not much else to do around there other than hike, boat, and lake stuff OP. Its a beautiful lake though and its deep so it stays a nice temp during peak summer.

Yep. Beautiful State Park. You can swim down near the lake at the parking lot, or there are shoals up river you can walk around or swim.

If you want to drive around some, you could also go visit Burgess Falls, Old Stone Fort State Park etc.
