Heading down there w significant other w her family in August. Never heard of this area before. Flying into Spartanburg and driving over. Taking the golf clubs.

Any recommendations on must-do’s or where to go?

4 nights and have a rental.

One of the great areas of NC! Generally, a very exclusive area of the State. Lot of wealth in the area.

Are you staying at Sapphire Valley Resort? Beyond the obvious golfing, some things to do:

Hiking and visiting the numerous waterfalls in the area. LINK

We loved renting a pontoon boat on nearby Lake Glenville. LINK

Go visit the iconic High Hampton Inn. LINK You could dine there or even go play a round of golf on their course.

The village there has some nice shops. A few good restaurants.

Go visit Highlands NC. About 30 minutes or less from Cashiers. Cool town to walk around, shop, eat, drink.

Note: This is a very popular part of the State during certain times of the year, so don't be surprised to see lots of tourists mingling around as well.

Have fun. Give us a trip report when you're back.

Lots of good hiking around there if that’s your thing. Whiteside Mountain is close to Cashiers. About a 2 mile loop with lots of overlooks. It can get crowded so we like doing it first thing in the morning.

Can’t help with golf. I’ve only played once up there at a private club. From what I’ve heard, all the courses there are short and tight.

Dining - Cashiers has Cornucopia that is good. For casual, there’s an Ugly Dog Pub and Slab Town Pizza. I found the brewery there to be a bit of a tourist trap. Mediocre beer and overpriced food. YMMV. Those are the only places I’ve eaten in Cashiers. Highlands has more restaurants. Lakeside in Highkands is our favorite for a nice dinner. Paoletti’s is also good.

Nole Man and The Spleen covered it for the most part.

We rented a house on Lake Glenville about 4 years ago.
Some in our group did a float trip, I think it was down the French Broad River. The outfitter they used was east of town but I don't know the name.

We rented a pontoon boat and everyone loved that. The lake is not that big and you can see it all in 2 or 3 hours. And it has 3 waterfalls.

The Ingles grocery is a good place to pick up food if you are cooking.

Drive over to Dillard, GA one morning and have breakfast at the Dillard House.

High Hampton was recently overhauled by the Blackberry Farm people, so it's probably gotten some major upgrades.

Yeah they better have. $1100 per night for the cheap room when I checked for a weekend in late August.
To be fair thought that does include food and drinks and the place does indeed look fantastic.

I wouldn’t bother going into Highlands. Stay in Cashiers
