Carry on + backpack + giftbag

Will be flying soon with carry on + backpack + gift bag. Should I have any problems with this third "bag"? I really don't want to check my luggage.

One option is you could gate check your carryon if "this flight is oversold and we're looking for volunteers to check their bag free of charge to their final destination". Then you only have to deal with 2 things. Otherwise throw the giftbag in your backpack

That's a good idea. It probably be easier to put my backpack in the giftbag. It's not a very big backpack.

These days I feel like they'll almost always gate check your carryon for free.
