We did one to Montego Bay, Cozumel and Grand Cayman
If you don't mind the twists and turns of the Miss River the night you leave and the night you return it was worth it.

You get to mouth of Miss right before dark on your way back.

We enjoyed it.

I feel like this is a trap....but I'll play along.

Nay. Nay. A thousand times nay.

Any negative stereotypes you hear about cruises stem from Carnival Cruises, and specifically the ones leaving out of New Orleans.

I would honestly recommend just taking whatever money you would spend on one, going to Harrah's, and betting it all on black. Even if you lose, the 15 second of excitement that you'd receive before losing would be far greater than a week on a Carnival Cruise out of NOLA.

I truly don't get the haters of Carnival.

I'm not a snob, and I've done them three times out of NOLA, and had fun each time.

If you live near, it's nice to drive right to the port and get on the boat.

I don't know what people are really looking for that put down carnival. It is what it is, a cheap getaway. The wife and I enjoy it for quick childless weekend trips. Not much planning involved and once you are on the boat there is really nothing to worry about. Just sit on the deck and keep the drinks coming.

Most of them have been on other cruise ships.

Nay. Drive to Galveston and sail Royal Caribbean for much better ships and much better clientele. if Royal is too expensive or you still want to sail carnival for their reward points or something, you'll still find better clientele and nicer ships sailing out of Galveston than NOLA.

I mean, you can certainly have fun on a Carnival ship out of NOLA but if you have options, go with the other option.

No it wouldn't. Keep that kind of stuff for the OT. If you can't have fun an enjoy yourself on a Carnival Cruise out of NOLA you're a miserable person.

You have to be a miserable some bitch to not have fun on a cruise. Sit on deck' enjoy music and cocktails. Explore port, swill cocktails, come home.

I really don't understand the big deal. I've been on the elation and the dream out of New Orleans, had a good time on both ships.

You can always have a good time. But you can find better ships with better clientele and better itineraries if you sail out of other places. Port Canaveral and Galveston are both a relatively easy drive away.

6 hours east of NOLA can get you Royal Caribbean and 10 hours west of NOLA can get you to the Eastern Caribbean.

It's like drinking a value wine from Winn Dixie...sure you can enjoy it and it you can have a good time. But, what if I told you you can better wine somewhere else but you may have to drive a little further to get it. And, the place you're going to get this better wine serves free finger foods while you shop, offers complimentary tastings, etc.

For a little more effort and similar cost you can get a better experience and better amenities. That being said, if you can't get drunk off boxed wine at the camp and have fun, then you suck at life.

It's yet another thing that is cool to hate on.

I've been on NCL, RC, Holland, Celebrity and Carnival and had a good time on all of them.

There are fatties pushing to belly up to the buffet on all of them and obnoxious drunks on all of them.

As for the NOLA cruise, I loved going out the Mississippi. Thought it was really neat to see.

Don't go when the kids are out of school.

The Dream is the bigger newer ship. The Triumph is still pretty decent and I actually liked the layout better.

Triumph does 4-5 day cruises. Progresso and Cozumel one trip, just Cozumel the next. Those are less costly and attract a lesser demographic although I've always had a good time.

So have I, and while I rather some of the other ships, they cost more and the 45 minute drive to the port for me is much easier than driving to Galveston or Florida.

That's fine but most of us aren't OT ballers and we like to save money when we can.
