Just looking to rent a cabin for a long weekend trip soon.

Any positives or negatives in regards to these areas. Which area has more to do? Will have a 4 year old with us.

Cabin suggestions? Hikes? Etc.

I would strongly recommend looking more into southern MO/northwest AR.

More family fun. Especially for a trip up to branson.

I'd pick Mena. Not sure of the cabin options but it's more scenic IMO and more to do. There are more trails near Athens but it's not far.

I'd choose Mena if you're only planning on hiking. But if you're looking to fish too, go with Broken Bow.

I love NW Arky but for just a 2 night stay I don't want to drive more than 4 hours

Check out the Cossatot River area. Also for an easy canoe trip you can do the Caddo River at Glenwood. They have cabins in that area. Ouachita Mountains in that area are good to find easy hikes. Little Missouri river area. A lot of good spots and not a long drive.Look up the Ouachita Natoinal forest website has some good inforamtion.
