HEading to BEANTOWN in May. @AbitaFan08 I looked up the Carmen restaurant you posted in the other thread and according to Yelp is has CLOSED

Staying Wednesday to Wednesday with the driveGIRL -- Looking to spend a few days outside the city along the coast. What would you recommend doing for day trips? Is Portland, Maine worth the drive? Is White Mountain National forest worth it if we wanted to do some outdoorsy/hiking? Will probably spend Thursday/Friday/Saturday out of the city before coming back Sunday/Monday/Tuesday (Red Sox/Rangers)

Yeah I do need to update the guide a bit. Unfortunately, Carmen is closed and will be reopening in a new location. Problem is, as great as the food is, that atmosphere was a huge part of what made it so special.

Yes a drive up through coastal Maine is worth it and plenty of whole in the wall type places to get lobster just about any way you can think of.
Kennebunk area and York lighthouse are only about 50 minutes from Logan Airport.
Portland is a little further up and Acadia National Park is probably about a 3 hour drive from Kennebunk depending on how much time you have.

drivers here are insane and it takes some getting used to

Maybe this says more about me, but I loved driving in Boston.

Driving in Boston is not that bad.
I've done it several times.
I even did pre Iphone days with no sense of direction the first time I went and figured it out.

You don't need a vehicle to get around though.

Got it. Whenever I'm back on my computer I'll shoot the guide your way - kind of a pain to do on the phone.
