Pico Island, Azores
The Azores are my favorite place in the world, and climbing that mountain and camping out for the night up there is one of my favorite travel experiences. I lucked out and got clear skies at both sunset and sunrise and could see all five islands in the central group from the top of Piquinho.
The lava tube cave tour was very worthwhile, and I also loved the view of the mountain from Horta.
I loved the Azores so much that I went back last year and took some friends, but I didn't get to go back to Pico.

I have been tempted to apply for one of the volunteer spots there!

Los Olivos, plenty of people have been there, but no one else that I know.

We stayed on Sao Miguel during our trip and I've been kicking myself that we didn't allocate enough time to visit Pico.
I loved the Frei Gigante wine from Pico. Ended up ordered a case online once we got back.

That’s the kind of travel I'm after.
This was back in the early 2000's. I think its legal to visit now. Back then, there was still papers and blueprints in russian laying around. I snagged one of the blueprints and still have it. But Estonia in general is fantastic. Tallin has an old town that is the best old town Ive ever seen. Unfortunately, it is over run with tourist now....we went back 3 years ago. We went to Latvia and Lithuania on that trip and its one of the best trips we've taken......and dirt cheap.
I lived in Latvia from 2002 to 2004. Riga is fun, but Talinn is absolutely beautiful. You're 1,000% right about the old town. It being on a hill overlooking the water makes it nicer than Riga, for me anyway.

Lake Tahoe, not as obscure as some, lots still haven't been. Most gorgeous place on earth though IMO

I said Sun Valley. I agree that a lot of people know about it. I live in Maryland and very few people I know have ever been. Not the easiest place to get to.
Stanley, Idaho is off the charts. Population of 100.
