Jersey Week

We went once when that was going on.....some shitty people come down during that time.

I'm not a DVC Member....YET. The wife wants the girls to be out of daycare before we spring for it. BUT, some changes at work may have opened the door for us joining next year.

It's not really bad until Thu of that week.

My parents have been in it since '94. Back then, you got park tickets with each stay!

Not so much now. And with all the recent changes, I'm glad we got in when we did. The Tables in Wonderland card is no longer a benefit for resale purchasers.

Le Cellier for dinner
Cinderellas Royal Table for Breakfast. Ask for a seat by the window facing fantasy Land. If you get the earliest booking, you can get into Magic Kingdom early and walk down Main Street with the park empty. It's surreal.
Chef Mickey's for breakfast
'Ohana for dinner
Teppan Edo for dinner (Japan)
Liberty Tree Tavern for Dinner
Beaches and Cream for lunch
Sci-Fi Dine In Theater
Be Our Guest

Wow. I've had a few of these.

Did Cinderellas Castle for breakfast before park opening. really cool.
Did Chef Mickeys for breakfast
Did Ohana for dinner (awesome)
Did Teppan Edo for dinner (really cool)
Did Liberty Tree for dinner (enjoyed it, ate a lot)
Did Be our Guest for dinner in the Rose Room (really cool atmosphere)

I really liked Hoop Dee Do (all you can eat fried chicken, ribs, and all you can drink beer)

Man I want to go back now.

This was our favorite. The main hall is okay. The West Wing would be perfect if it wasn't right by the kitchens. The Rose room was the best overall.

Am I the only one that considers Be Our Guest to be HIGHLY overrated? Granted, I've only been once for lunch, but I was not impressed. The food we had was average at best. I understand the dining options in the Magic Kingdom are limited, but I still expected more. Maybe the hype was just too much for any restaurant to live up to. The theming is top-notch...I'll give you that.

Next trip I REALLY want to try the Skipper Canteen in Adventureland. The menu is a nice change of pace for the Magic Kingdom.

People had very, VERY high expectations for it. Some people understood that it wasn't going to be some high end restaurant. It had to be accessible to a wide variety of people and scores of them. So it seats a ton and they want you in and out. The food can't take too long to prepare. I've never gone for the food. I got the big, light-up mug the first time and since I get something cheap and enjoy looking around for 30 minutes.

Not at all. In fact, I think I think that may be the concensus. Been there twice, both times for lunch and the only thing I would probably order off the menu is the French onion soup.

Hell, I went in expecting this but still came away pretty disappointed. I don't fault Disney. Really, it's a result of the fanbase over hyping something and making it so difficult to access that it almost takes on a mythical status. I may attempt another visit maybe for dinner...if they improve the menu. I think our oldest daughter would really enjoy going in there.

My best tip would be to order groceries to your room. Even if you only order beer. You can get a six pack for the price of one beer on property.

Did anyone mention 1900 Park Fare in the Grand Floridian. Good buffet food for a reasonable price.

How about Victoria & Alberts? We may give it a try next time if my parents decide to make the trip. Need someone to watch the kids while we are there.

Are kids even allowed in V&A?

Victoria and Albert’s Chef’s Table: The Perfect Place for Children

Wait, wait, I know what you’re thinking, “They don’t even allow children at Victoria and Albert’s.” This is true; the youngest guests are not permitted at Disney’s premier restaurant, but children age 10 and up are welcome to experience V&A’s. And that’s just what we did, brought our three girls, 13-year-old Charlie and 10 year-old twins Josie and Louisa to the most elegant restaurant in Central Florida.

Dining plan is only a "deal" if you would have eaten the amount of food/meals you have to eat otherwise. If not, you lose money ( you are close to break even on food, but alcohol/tips are NOT included).

That said, other than top of the line dining plans, you get a table service, a counter service and 2 snacks per day of your stay. Some of the table services count for 2 meals (le Cellier in Epcot [Canada], O'hana at the Polynesian and Be Our Guest at Magic Kingdom). The first two of htose are awesome. BOG was okay, but not great (FYI, it is a counter service at lunch).

We've done it both ways...usually only when the dining plan is part of a "package" [stay for a week at X level resort, get dining plan). Good luck.

There is almost no situation where it's a "deal" using people's normal behavior. Which is why Disney loves it. Because in the end, you do what you want and are used to once you're in the parks. Don't have anymore table services? But you LOVE getting lunch at The Plaza. So you end up spending cash. You think "I have the money to spend" because it was 7 months ago when you paid for the dining plan and that cost is almost completely out of your mind when you're standing in front of a restaurant.

I've never paid for the dining plan. The 3 times I've used it were during free dining promotions....and I still don't think it's worth it. Take the discounted room or package discount instead.

I'll admit it was sort of a fluke that we ended up signing up for this as one of our "theme" dinners. We were late for all the other ones, and it was the only one open. It ended up being one of our favorite experiences at Disney.

The Hoop-Dee-Doo Musical Review was a lot of fun for the family.

1) It's in Fort Wilderness, which is camping/RV section of Disney which isn't ever really used and has kind of a charming, old school vibe to it.
2) You get to take a boat out to it, which is kind of cool.
2) It has an old school wild west variety show type deal as you eat.
3) It's family style diner with all you can eat. They just keep it coming. Best of all, they keep refilling your pitchers of beer. I'll admit I got pretty sloshed.

Anwway, it's definitely kitschy and low brow, but it was actually a lot of fun.

Hoop Dee Doo is AWESOME. Very entertaining. And the food it very good, IMO. Can't go wrong with that as a meal option.

You are correct. It was one of our best experiences. I thought the food was great. Beer too.

I've done it twice. Once when I was 11 and then again when I was 26.

The jokes were the exact same.
