What are you looking for? Expensive high end get away, good shopping, good place for teenage girls, good fishing, seclusion, cheap, etc? Distance matter? Time of year?

What everyone wants is different.

I have three small kids. Would like to limit the driving. I know Seaside, etc is awesome, but I don't want to be 5 rows back from the water.

Santa Rosa Beach, Grayton Beach, Blue Mountain Beach are all before Seaside and less crowded. Or keep going past Seaside to Seacrest...or anywhere between Seaside and Rosemary. All of that area is typically not crowded.

I'm staying at Watercolor soon. What is the best golf course in Santa Rose Beach?

Which restaurant?

Grayton Beach. The beachfront "downtown" area is away from the main road - 30A. The town is only 3 blocks long. Western Lake is an option for small kids when the surf is too rough - there are some beaches on the lake. There are homes for rent in a wide range of prices right on or near the beach. There are some rental houses on Cottage Street that share a community pool and are right by the beach.

Also, a bonus for kids is that you can walk straight onto the beach - there is no dune to climb or stairs to climb to access the beach.

I have always like St. Augustine as there is much more to do than the beach.

Agreed. St Augustine has a lot to offer. It is a very European city with great restaurants and historical places to visit. St Augustine Beach is a week kept secret in Florida. Be advised that the beach and the town are at different places. I recommend staying at the beach and driving into town. The beached below SAB are drive on beaches if you have a 4x4.

Yes. The beach is at least 1/2 mile away from 30A. Also, the town is surrounded by Grayton Beach State Park, so it is a quiet spot relative to everything else on that strip. You can actually walk on the beach from Grayton Beach, past the State Park, and into Seaside. We used to get our exercise that way, and would get the kids to come along because we'd get them a shaved ice.

Red Bar and Hurricane Oyster Bar are both fun spots to eat. Red Bar is actually on the beach in Grayton Beach, and Hurricane Oyster Bar is a short drive away, just on the other side of 30A.

Rivard Realty has a good website to find a house for rent there.

The Portofino @ Pensacola Beach is awesome. Especially during Blues Week.
