Leaving out of Florida.

I see carnival has one to S. Car (grand Turk, DR, & Aruba)

Norwegian has one to Cozumel, Rotan, & Belize City.

Looks like Norwegian is maybe slightly better than carnival? What about princess or some of the other comparable cruise lines?

I would suggest looking into the Excellence resorts. They are my personal favorite AI if you are looking for that. The one in Punta Cana is gorgeous and fairly secluded beaches.

Mountains or beach, don't really care. Hiking or clubbing. Airplane or cruise ship (leaving from Florida).

Probably looking at some type of an exotic beach resort that has good food, scenery, fishing, and isn't extremely populated.

Budget isn't too much of an issue. Maybe some random island off Brazil? Small town in Mexico? Cuba?

Colombia. Best country in south america. mountains, jungle, beach, clubs, hot women, architecture.. it has it all

Based on my own personal experience, if it's just you, or just you and one other person, don't cruise, either pick a city and go "live" there for a week or so, or go the easy route and just do an All Inclusive instead. I have some suggestions on great places to go, but it really depends on what you're wanting to do, how outdoorsy and active you are.

Do you want to explore or see the local culture?

Are you wanting to vegetate, turn your brain off for 7-10 days, and drink until you can't feel your face?

Somewhere in between?

Looks like it's going to be a cruise. Spending around $1500/person, and 4 of us going. Different ages and activity levels. I think the cruise is just the easiest, most convenient, & cost efficient....especially for only a week long trip.

Look at the 8 day southern. Very rarely will you have kids on an 8 day.

Carnival has the 8 day southern cruises. Not seeing 8 day southern caribb. for Norwegian. Is Norwegian Getaway one of the nicer cruises for such a "cheap" cruise? Norwegian & Oasis of the Seas?

I would vote for the southern Caribbean cruise, although not jumping for job over cruising with Carnival.

Does the Southern Caribbean cruise depart out of Miami or San Juan? Most of the cruises to the southern Caribbean depart out of San Juan, so that gives you something to consider as an additional cost.

I would definitely do the southern cruise. Mainly because its Florida is the only state that really does that cruise, but Galveston, New Orleans, or Mobile can do the western cruise. 1500/ person seems pretty steep just for the cruise.

I have been on both.

I like the Southern itinerary better for sure. Aruba is one of my favorite cruise ports out there. GT is a really fun beach day, and their new island in the DR(i'm assuming you meant it's going to Amber Cove) is supposed to be super nice, plus the beaches in DR are great.

I have been on the Western itinerary a couple of times and it is also pretty fun. Nachi Cocum in Cozumel is amazing, Goff's caye in Belize is some of the best snorkeling I have ever had. Roatan is just kinda meh to me, but some decent beaches.

The biggest factor to me comes down to which ships you're going on. Carnival and NCl both have some older ships that are still fun, but lack the amenities of the newer ships. So comparing ships would be the biggest factor for me.

Also, NCL has the UBP included which makes it amazing to not have to worry about your bar tab at the end of the week. You can add it on for Carnival, but at about $57 pp/per day it adds up quick.

I just saw this... Why?? Unless you are staying in a suite or the Haven, that seems like WAY to much for either one of these itineraries.

We took a RC out of San Juan and while the cruise was decent, let me say, frick PR. We would have come out much better both price and time wise to leave out of South Florida for a longer trip than to fly to PR, spend way too much on hotels and had a flight delay on the way home that cost us another night. In hindsight, it would have been much cheaper to take a little longer cruise from south Florida than to fly to PR. Can you tell I am not a fan of PR? You will find that cruises to the islands have the same stores, most of the same activities. If you blindfold a person and put them in a port city, it would be hard to tell them apart.

looking like either Carnival Conquest, Norwegian Getaway, or Royal Caribbean Oasis of the Seas.

Oasis of the Seas looks like the most fun boat, and is also the largest.
Getaway looks to have the best food/dining options.
Conquest goes to the S. Caribbean.
