Considering taking the family to Banff during Mardi Gras does anyone have any personal experience skiing the area? Best mountain for intermediate skiers? Should I ski “the big 3” or stick to one mountain? Looks like Canmore has decent places to stay that aren’t too crazy! Turo has decent rental car prices. The flights are pretty high right now… too many decisions. I can usually ski Colorado pretty economically but I don’t think that’s happening on this trip! Any advice or experiences would be greatly appreciated. Also, if anyone has a travel agent they would recommend for ski vacations I’d consider them as well. Thanks in advance!

Sunshine is the best intermediate mountain but you have to go to Lake Louise at least one day since the views are just incredible...

But Sunshine is great as well...

Louise is also a pretty approachable mountain, Sunshine does typically have better snow and is a closer drive. I didn't ski Norquay but I could see it being better for an intermediate, it is much smaller.

I stayed in Banff, can't say much about Canmore unfortunately.

Lake Louise easily. Wife had a work trip in Banff a few years back and I skied Sunshine and Lake Louise. Lake Louise was better by far. I’m an intermediate skier and loved it. Mountain was big, views are amazing, and it was easy to get around. Bonus is to take your kids ice skating on Lake Louise when you’re done! We tubed at Norquay, but didn’t ski. Sunshine was more wide open and spread out, but it’s layout didn’t impress me.

Pushed the trip back until April. Way better pricing. Thinking we will ski 4 days and then do some other exploring. Maybe dog sledding? Definitely going to ice skate. Thanks
