Any recommendations for a bachelor party weekend camping/canoeing trip? This would probably be in March, and most of us would be traveling from Nola

You aren't coming to Glacier in march to camp, hike and canoe

To XC ski, snowmobile, or snowshoe, but not the above

Anything in Alabama where we could canoe and camp for two nights, then stay somewhere like Birmingham or Montgomery the last night to party?

Yeah I skipped that part of his post.

Last time I was at Glacier I almost could have used snowshoes in July in some parts

West Virginia has some great canoeing, among other activities.

For a detailed list of the "other activities" go visit this little fella and his family will handle everything from there.

I would usually suggest Arkansas for this, but that's a haul from NOLA. It's sort of out of the box, but you might consider the Florida panhandle around Pensacola. The Blackwater River is kind of a neat canoeing area, and you could camp out. March would be pretty good weather. Then you could roll into Pensacola to party, if you're wanting to have a night on the town.

Not to

I know you work at GNP. Is the trail to Grinnell fully open yet?

The sections I was referring to was the end of the trail to Iceberg Lake and a couple of sections of the Highline Trail. The first section on the Highline was more of an ice bridge, on a slope, and the snow/ice pack sloped all the way down to the GTTSR... hundreds of feet at least. You're probably familiar with the area. I had crampons but I still feared for my life for a minute

Ocoee in Tennessee is good, could raft it one day, canoe the hiwassee the next. Chattanooga is close enough to go out if ya wanted.

Blackwater River

Blackwater state forest offers several rivers & creeks to paddle and a good number of outfits to drop you off and pick you up. It also offers miles of hiking trails and even a few backcountry shelters. I lived out there for 8 years. It's about 4 hours from Nola and march is a good time to go. Beautiful sandbars to camp on. Miles of wilderness without anyone around you. Largest state forest in Florida. It borders conecuh national forest to the north and Elgin Air Force base to the southeast, creating the largest track of protected southern pine in the country. And like mentioned above you're really close to Pensacola or Pensacola beach as lagniappe.

Fun area, lots of canoeing/camping on Ocoee Lake as well. Hiking all over that area too.

Prentice Cooper area is good for camping/canoeing the main river right by downtown Chatt, some good hiking all around Chatt.

Look toward Winchester, TN as well. The Elk River is a fun canoe and lots of trout fishing there like the Hiwassee. Tims Ford Lake right about the dam has a lot of options, Tims Ford State Park is there.

If you want top notch trout fishing, look at Watauga River/Lake in Northeast Tenn.

March can still be pretty cold on the water around here though.

How 'bout Mt Bachelor in Bend, OR. Has all of that, plus skiing and a plethora of great breweries.
