My wife is due in November and we are thinking of doing a babymoon prior to our child's arrival. What are some good places to go that are not too far from Louisiana?

I have never heard of this. Why?

You have never heard of people taking a vacation before the baby arrives because they probably won't be taking as many vacations coming up once the kid arrives (at least for a few years)?

Previous generations might not have had obnoxious names for everything, but this practice is pretty common.

As for the OP, we need more specifics. Do you mean a short drive or short flight?

Because it's the last opportunity to enjoy your disposable income before it all goes to the baby/daycare. My husband and I did 10 days in Europe when I was about 24 weeks pregnant last year and had a blast.

OP: are you open to flying? budget? how many days?

I am with you on this one but they won't get to travel after that kid comes. This makes sense.

In all seriousness, I'd go somewhere you would never take a 5 year old. Honestly, she probably is not going to want to go to Europe super preggo so you'd be looking mid to late summer.

You also likely want to either go to say an all inclusive over the summer or somewhere cooler this fall, super preggo wife in heat is not fun for anyone.

I agree with you 100%. The trip makes sense.

Assigning that idiotic name to it does not.

They probably will actually. Same type of people who do this are also real quick to let the grandparents babysit

It is our 1st child. Last trip before we become a house of 3.

Also looking for like an extended weekend type trip Wednesday/Thursday to Sunday.

And I would prefer to drive somewhere but open if a suggestion intrigues me

more information like where you live and what's drivable to you would be helpful. Also what you like to do, etc. just a generic I want to go somewhere doesn't help a lot, especially on a board with eager people to help but who also have very different tastes.

Assuming you live somewhere in LA and that 8 hours is your limit, then i would do Austin.

Nope. Honestly. We did the opposite; saved as much we could leading up to my son. Then we vacationed like normal after. Some trips with him, some without.

We live in prarieville. 8 hours would be our max for drving and I am thinking we will just want to chill out and relax.

What is so hard in saying "A trip before the baby is due?"

What is so hard in you accepting the fact that I used the word "babymoon"?

Use Google flights to help you pick a destination. For kicks I put in leaving from NOLA Thursday Aug 10, returning Monday Aug 14th and for under $250/ticket you can go to Boston, Minneapolis, Phoenix, Denver, and Chicago to name a few.

Your wife wants to do this? Seems like it would be very miserable for her
