I see my flight includes a departure tax (which I'm used to) but I've read reports of an arrival tax as well.

Is this correct?

Flying into PUNTA CANA, DO (PUJ)

I remember paying 10 dollars cash per person when I landed. I sure as heck did not pay that amount of cash upon arrival.

Im wondering if the $40 (for two people) is $10 per person per arrival and departure.

I know some airlines build the departure tax into the ticket (like Southwest did here) but seems odd that they wouldn't build in an arrival tax as well if one was applicable.

Delta is charging me $110/person in taxes & fees for a dummy booking to PUJ. So that $220 sounds correct for 2 people

This is what I recall, as well. It was weird though. Basically, just a guy walking around the line saying "Give me $10". Felt like I was getting played.

We went last year and there was a booth set up to take your money upon arrival. I can't remember if it was $10 or $20pp but I know it was cash only.

At the customs and immigration desk, you’ll receive a 30-day tourist card (US$10 cash fee) instead of a visa. By Dominican law, there’s also a US$20 departure tax, the cost of which is usually included in your airfare

I was just there a few weeks ago and I can confirm this is exactly what it felt like but turns out it's legit.

Yes, it is $10 per person.

I have been through the Punta Cana airport 10 times. I have never paid anything but $10 person to enter the country

Bruh

My airfare is usually around $425 per person for direct from ATL to PUJ. How they break that shite down is up to them.

Some airlines and some countries don't add it in to the cost of your ticket and some do, which is why I always look. Leaving the Philippines we had a 2500 pesos (per person) tax due in local currency (no credit card) but thank God we knew about it before going to the airport. Its like port fees on cruises...many people don't even know they are paying them but they are it's just added to their cruise fare.

It doesn't appear that any airline is adding the "arrival tax" but I know at least for Southwest the departure tax is included.

Purchase in advance and you don't have to wait in line.
