Anyone tried airbnb and what is your experience? Thinking about doing one for the aTm game this year. Also what's your experience with them accommodating pets?

I've used Airbnb a few times. I've always made sure I have the entire house/apartment to myself, so I can't speak in detail about renting a private room, but never had any negative experiences.
I'm not very picky with respect to the residence I stay in as I typically just like a cheaper option than hotels.

Used it in Omaha for the CWS in 2015. The experience was great. We rented a 1 bedroom apt in the heart of Old Market and the host left a list of restaurants and things to do. The only thing that was weird was the fact that we were using a strangers stuff.

I've used it for both entire places and just rooms. Never had a problem. Just do your research looking at all the reviews of the place and host.

I've used it plenty of times. Only book places with a good number of reviews. There is a filter that allows you to only show places that allow pets.

So far I have used for stays in the French Quarter, London, and Destin. Do it! Like other posters mentioned make sure to go with a place that has many positive reviews. To my knowledge people can't leave fake reviews since you have to be a paying guest to leave one.
You have to verify your identity several different ways before you can make rental requests, but after that it's easy.

Have used them internationally in France, Germany, and Colombia.
All three times had a great experience and was very easy to set up.
I would expect a lot of them to have a no pet policy though.

I've used it in NYC, Destin, and the Domincan Republic. Never had any problems. Like others have said, read the reviews and do some searching before booking.

I've only used Airbnb and Europe and had no issues. Just make sure to be on time when picking up the key. I feel rates are way high in the states, which I end up doing a hotel instead.

I've stayed at a couple of Airbnb entire home/apt rentals, both times places that had 20+ reviews with a high rating and in the US. It's been fine, I didn't have to meet either host in person to check in/out and no issues to speak of. For the locations they were more reasonably priced than a hotel, but I definitely prefer staying in hotels. The main reason is that hotels have paid housekeepers and staff and it feels a lot less like I'm using/invading another person's stuff.

We've used it for years.....we haven't stayed in a hotel for years unless we are somewhere for 1 night. Some of the recent places we have stayed in AirBnB are NYC, Austin, San Francisco, Santa Rosa, Nola, Amsterdam, Helsinki, Riga, Tallin, Vilnius. All good experiences. We actually started using VRBO 10 years ago but AirBnB seems to have better selections now.
When we had a dog, we could find places that allowed pets but it did limit the selections. Airbnb has a filter you can check if you have pets.
Rates are always cheaper than a hotel and you get to stay in a neighborhood with locals instead of on a generic hotel with a bunch of tourists. Plus you get a kitchen so we usually eat breakfast in.

Who did you use for London? Likely going there summer 2017, and was thinking about Airbnb. Just my wife and I.

Airbnb is great. If you're worried, stick to places with a lot of reviews.

We stayed here LINK but I'm sure you can find a better rental this far in advance. And it looks like she raised the price a lot since we went. Investigate apartements with lots of positive reviews and pay attention to distance from tube stations since the tube should be your main method of transportation.

used it recently in fayetteville, AR for the UF/Arky game and had a good experience.
Use it all the time when I go to big cities since it saves on hotel costs generally speaking.
No real significant issues for me and all the people have been great.

If I go to Chicago, I use AirBNB. The hotels everytime I'm there are usually like 150-200+, and actually I end up having a good time when I'm staying near Lincoln Park area too

Used it for our entire 10 day trip, 4 city stop in Peru, and also in Washington D.C a few weeks ago.
I've never had any problems. The hosts are usually very accommodating. Will go out of their way to make sure you have a pleasant stay.
The ONLY issue I've had is a host cancelled on us at the last minute for our D.C. trip. AirBnb has measures to try to prevent that, as the hosts get penalized for it and they give you credit towards another place, but at the end of the day it's up to them.
Luckily I was able to find another cheaper place the same day, but I was pissed when it happened.
