Looking to go a trip with my wife and soon-to-be 3 month old Labor Day weekend. Thursday through Monday.

Not too familiar with the area. Usually stay in Gulf Shores or Destin.

Was hoping for some recommendations for a condo that is within walking distance to restaurants and on (or very near) the beach.

Not looking for top of notch amenities or a fancy pool (3 month wont be swimming) and don't need more than one bedroom, but will pay $4-500 a night for great location near the beach that is family friendly.

Thoughts? TIA.

VRBO in Grayton Beach. There are a couple of restaurants there, and everything is beach level - meaning that you don't have any stairs to climb to get to the beach.

There are some nice rental houses on Cottage Street that are probably in your price range and steps from the beach. It will be pretty quiet there, since the town is surrounded by Grayton Beach State Park, so there is no through traffic, and the beach is 1/2 mile inland from 30-A.

Best bet is Seaside/Watercolor or Rosemary Beach...both tend to be more crowded on holiday weekends, but both have plenty of restaurants and shopping options.

Also, Alys beach is very nice, we stayed there last time and enjoyed it.

Alys Beach probably won't have a one-bedroom house to rent and it likely isn't under $500 if they have one.

Grayton Beach seems a little too "sleepy" for me...but it would definitely not be as crowded as Watercolor/Seaside and Rosemary Beach areas.

This is a plus for me...

I figured that with a 3 month old, quiet was good. Red Bar is fun, and Water Colors/Seaside is only 5-10 minute drive. Having Western Lake right there is a plus when you have kids and the surf is a little rough...

for a great 'hidden' area of 30a check out sea grove.

not sure how 'popping' seaside food truck area will be for labor day but if you have kids lots of movies, concerts etc.

of course, red bar..remember to bring cash.

i'd bring a road or mtn bike and get some early morning ride sin.

alys is definitely 'adult only' oriented but they have some crazy parties (like the 'color' party)

grab some coffee at fonville press.

most of the donuts on 30a suck..just head out to the 'donut hole' at the end of 30a/30 if you are jonesing for a donut for the wife & baby.

the publix has decent prices if you need to load up with groceries for the week.

hit modica market for some "mom-sized" mimosas and great breakfast pastries and sandwiches.

goatfeathers is where you want to grab some crab legs or shrimp to bring home & cook plus they have some pretty good fresh french bread.

eta you're going to love it. 30a is very quiet, kid-friendly and well manicured.
