You can plug a wired or wireless mouse into an android phone and it'll work.

Android is not the only OS with this available. In the video the guy plugged everything in through USB but it could also be done with a bluetooth mouse and keyboard as well.

yes, please plug a mouse into your phone and tell us how great it is while not realizing how utterly ridiculous and non practical that is

This is pretty cool, but I can't really think of any practical applications for it.

Mouse + keyboard + screencast = laptop replacement ?

For what, streaming videos and the like? I rather just use my fingers for that.

If you're talking work processing and things like that, then maybe.... But it just seems impractical.

Android is the greatest, but moreso because I don't have to fricking mail in a birth certificate to download apps.

A better use for the USB connection is for external storage.

It is impractical to use a mouse with a phone, but the main point is that support for pointing devices is there.

A more practical example would be an android based set top box that you can control with any input device... a mouse, keyboard, wiimote, wacom tablet, etc. Or to have such options available when you take your android tablet to a meeting or something.

I think some form of "docking" your mobile device and it becoming your desktop is where things are headed. Especially now that people are seeing just how much their phones cost them, there's probably going to be increasing demand to do everything on your phone.

I think it was the Motorola atrix had a docking laptop you could get just for it. Don't know if it worked with other phones or if it was just for the atrix. I just know they pushed it with the atrix.

I like knowing if you use the slim port adaptor and your phone is by the TV, you can use the wireless keyboard and mouse basically like a computer mirrored on your TV screen from your bed, couch or recliner.

Ok, that makes a lot more sense. I was limiting my thought to keyboard an mouse, which would be fairly impractical... but clearly there are much bigger and better things to be done

Not all wireless mice use bluetooth, so there is still a dongle to plug in for that wireless mouse.

I'm not even talking physical dock, it needs to be wireless and fairly universal. So you could dock with a laptop shell like the Atrix, or your office Montior/Keyboard/Mouse set up, or your living room TV.

well. you can use the miracast dongle and connect to your tv wireless and then use your wireless mouse and keyboard connected to your phone. is that what you are kind of talking about? i think miracast is what you may be looking for.

The atrix was an awesome phone, also had a figerprint scanner before anyone else was doing it. I was really disappointed when I swapped it out for my S3 a couple years ago and realized I liked my atrix better.
