There's a little adapter that comes with the new iphone that allows a headphone jack to plug into it, then into the charger.

I don't mind the push for USB-C. Wish they would do it on the iPhones as well. Everyone needs to switch to it. The big one that pisses me off is SD card. Liked having that. Headphone port on iphones is irksome too. Samsung is gonna ditch that next though. Probably going to see a lot of people join that bandwagon.
Always disappointed me to find out that guy is laughing cause he left something in the ocean to get clean for his boss and tied it up to a stick on the shore. When he came back to get it, the tide had risen and he couldn't find the things he left in the ocean.

You wouldn't be able to use that headphone jack with any portable music player. It's a quarter inch plug. All portable music players that have a plug are 3.5mm.
Also, how could you buy the new iPhone without realizing it doesn't have a headphone jack? Did you not notice the adapter that came in the box. Finally, this is a dongle:
