Can anyone link me to that spreadsheet that shows the streaming services along with each channel lineup so you can compare and contrast?

I've seen it before, it's an Excel or Google doc.
Bump, if anyone knows of the document I was referring to.

I haven't found anything better than this site for comparing streaming services.

All right guys, a while back I signed up for Hulu live. It has a great channel selection, but damn it reminds me of sling on the Xbox from years ago. Constantly buffering.

Last night was the final straw, as I could not get the Mississippi state Texas a&m game up AT ALL.

Switched to YouTube TV and so far so good. Maybe the stream doesn't look as sharp, not sure, but there have been zero issues with sports. We'll see how this goes.

hulu live is a disaster. i also had buffering issues and for some reason during football games it goes to the beginning instead of live...which meant i had to always fast forward. got a promo code for half off two months of directv now, so i will be going back with them.

My Cox cable bill jumped $50/month this billing cycle. I dropped cable and kept internet. Will be purchasing Amazon TV & Firesticks and using Sling for streaming (open to other options).

Will basic Cox internet work for this situation? Should I buy a modem instead of renting one from Cox? I think Cox may be the only wireless provider for my area.

I’m in your exact situation. I checked and ATT is not available in my area (Nola - Lakeview/MidCity).

I plan to buy a fire tv or Apple TV on cyber Monday and simply get Internet only from Cox (quoted at $83 a month for 50megs).

I haven't tried other options, but I have had Sling for a while. IMO for the price you can't beat it. I do get the occasional buffer, and every now and then the screen will go black for about a second then it picks up a second or so before where it cut out (similar to buffering I guess but there's no loading screen). But again, I can put up with minor hiccups like that for the price. I haven't experienced any major issues.

What's the speed? You need about 5mbps per simultaneous HD stream, plus some headroom for other internet activities. Anything above 25mbps should be fine.

Cordcutter or not, you should ALWAYS buy your own modem. And make sure they aren't charging you rental fees for no reason.

Anyone have problems with a digital antenna in an apartment? I’m on the first floor and I can only catch NBC and Fox. I’m only 15-20 miles away from the stations.

Antenna needs to be about 35 feet high. Mine is in my attic... and it works great. I pull in over 45 free OTA channels.

had youtube tv here in Jax. Its not a bad service.Their service is finally hitting the streamers. I had it on my computer it was a pretty good service. It is very sports heavy in package. With college football ending i'm not that interested in sports after. If you have more than person watching i would recommend waiting till the service hits the roku stick supposely next month or two. I'm not familar with chromcast and all and would not really want to use my phone to watch tv.

In the process of cutting the cord from Cox.

Currently i have a coaxial cable going into a cox digital box, then the HDMI line out to the tv and then audio cables going into a sonos amp from the cox box to be able to play the tv sound over the sonos system.

I am going to hook up an outdoor antenna into the existing coxial line through the house so I will be able to use that coxial line to get ota hd signal throughout the house.

If I cut out the cox cable box, i know i will have to get a coaxial to HMDI converter.

But, what can i get to get the audio to the sonos amp?

Your TV probably has an optical audio out, and the Sonos probably has optical audio in.

Just got off the phone with Cox. After procrastinating for months, I'm a cord cutter. Thanks in large part to the great info in this thread.

Went with Fire TV/Sticks throughout the house and have Amazon Prime, Netflix, PSVue and the antenna. The Fire TV paired with the Echo is pretty neat.

Even with the top tier package of PSVue, it's still a saving of $55 from Cox.

I just paired my Echo Dot and Fire TV + PS Vue.

Game. Changer.

Speaking to change the channel is awesome. Is this the first time we've been able to just speak and have the channel changed?

Using Kodi on Apple TV is okay but you have to pay $99 for iOS developer account and that doesn't seems good. Get a Amazon Firestick and install kodi in it. It is a great experience. Here is guide to install kodi on firestck LINK /

Glad I dropped Cox Cable.

25 Megs is more than enough speed for fluid streaming over 3 tv's.
