TV or LED Sign To Show Sales Goals
I have no idea what the product name or if what I am looking for is possible but I will try to explain the best I can below.

My boss is looking for a sign (whether it be monitor, tv, or led sign) to be placed in our office that would be able to be customized and show our yearly sales totals (dollar value, total number of contracts signed, etc). This sign would be able to be modified and updated as a contract is signed providing a new total. We would prefer full customization of the look so we could add company and department name. My initial thought would be that this would be a monitor with a computer hookup but that just sounds like it wouldn't give the look he is going for.

Any suggestions?

I received a quote from a sign company for a ThinkSign but that type of sign looks like it would be more for a business storefront.

You need a digital signage app. There are multiples of these, that are very inexpensive, many sitting there on Amazon Fire sticks as paid apps. Easy to use and update and tie in to a spreadsheet that updates.

Would it be as simple as purchasing a tv the purchasing the app and linking them together? It's it fully customizable where I can have company logo and department in the screen?

Yes. Absolutely. Someone will need to learn how to set it up and maintain it. This is the same thing businesses, like McDonalds, do for menu boards, or Airlines do for flight information, just on a much smaller scale.

Just Google: FireTV Digital Signage Apps. Lots of choices.

Any suggestions on software? It would be me learning and updating the software. I did a quick search and found many of them. Preferably i would like to not have to buy a laptop specifically to cast this onto a tv. The tv in my office is a vizeo smart tv but the apps are terrible and you can't search for new apps on the tv. I may have to get a roku or fire stick to download an app if needed.

If you want another option, you can use Screenly on a Raspberry Pi. LINK

I may have a better and potentially much cheaper option but it requires an Office 365 subscription (maybe not).

Phase 1

1. Go to the Google Play Store.
2. Search for PowerPoint and select it.
3. Copy the entire address in the link bar at the top of the page.
4. Open another tab and go to www.apkpure.com
5. Paste the link where instructed.
6. Download the APK file.
7. Open up your cloud file sharing site of choice, like MediaFire.
8. Upload the APK to the cloud storage.
9. Copy the 'share file' link.
10. Open another tab and go to www.bitly.com
11. Paste the link you just copied. This will shorten it. Copy the shortened link, or just leave the tab open where you can see it.

Phase 2

1. Turn on your Fire TV or Fire Stick of choice (for your application, Fire Stick is likely the right choice).
2. Search apps and download / install 'Downloader'.
3. Open Downloader.
4. In the address bar, type in the shortened file name (which is your APK file for PowerPoint).
5. Click on Next, and Install the APK.

That's all there is to it.

What you do from there is you create the "digital signage" as a PowerPoint file (using your computer), adding in the transitions, background music (if desired), timings and setting it up to repeat itself over and over.

You then upload it to your Microsoft One Drive account, which you make sure matches your log-in for Office 365.

Open the PowerPoint app on the Fire Stick, log in, select your file, click on the Show icon and the file will start playing until you stop it.

*note - once you start PowerPoint Show, you will need a wireless keyboard in order to hit ESC and stop the playing of the file. I tried with both the remote and the wireless mouse, but only the keyboard works. You can, of course, hit the Home button on the remote and that will bring it back to home. This is assuming you are using the FireTV (which I was), not the Fire Stick.

This process will work for any Google App that you want to add to FireTV or Fire Stick.

If you don't have an Office 365 subscription, I believe this might still work. You'd have to test it. I already have it and so I was able to log in to my account.

I played back several PowerPoints I'd developed and pushed to my cloud storage. They played perfectly fine.

BTW - I tried downloading TeamViewer onto the FireTV to see if I could control it remotely from my computer. I could download it and I could view it on my computer, but it wouldn't control it, unfortunately. I'd read that it has to be rooted for this to work, but then Netflix just came out and they've implemented it where it can no longer be played on rooted devices. In your case, that might work since you wouldn't need Netflix in your application.
