Get this box instead unless you are buying for Amazon video. I have a couple of the 16gb boxes and love them

There are newer boxes with an S905X chip in them that are running Adroid 6.0. I have a couple of boxes with the S905 chip that I have had no issues with.

The stickied cord cutting thread at the top of the page tells you all you need to know.

TL;DR

FireTV Box >>> FireTV Stick so if you don't desperately need the $50 difference and this will be your main TV, the Box is better/faster/smoother.

For $20-$60 a month get 95% of the cable tv stations you have/watch now with 1 of Sling/PlayStation Vue/DirecTV Now.

You probably won't get live local coverage on any of the 3 I listed. I do know that PSVue has added a lot of local CBS stations and in bigger cities they may have more local network stations, but for the most part you get no live programming from ABC/NBC/Fox. You can get all of their Prime Time shows on Demand, but no live sports yet. CBS and ESPN covers SEC football pretty well, but I may have to hook up an antenna if they don't get a deal done with Fox when NFL season starts up.

If you don't care about legality, Kodi is an app that lets you stream pretty much anything ever made. It takes a bit of work to set up (see stickied threads for guides), is a bit klunky and tedious to use, and the quality is hit or miss, but you don't pay for it and can find just about anything from movies still out in theaters (low quality in theater recordings), to pretty much anything that's been put out on DVD/BluRay.

Hype....stay away from it. Buy a regular FireTV if you can get a hard wire to it.....network cat5 or cat 6 to it. Actually, even if you cant, just wifi connect it, the Firetv is better than a Fire Stick......faster, more memory.....you can install Kodi yourself.....just watch some youtube vids to guide you........use the Downloader app from the google play store.....simple, simple, simple.
