Looking for some SS help. I am replacing a 12 year old Onkyo speaker system. I was looking at the Klipsch Quintet system with the Sub. or the Bose Acoustimass 10 series.

5.1 channel, which of these do you guys like or is there another brand I should look at? I am a poor father of four so please keep that in mind.

TIA

I'll always recommend JBL for surround sets, or the Harman Kardon HKTS30, but those are back ordered until June. JBL has several lines of cinema speaker sets at varying price points.

I mean doesn't really fit in with the "I'm a poor father of 4" thing, but those look neato.

I also wouldn't recommend the Bose you mentioned in the OP.

Polk makes some TL3 satillte speakers you could power on a new Onkyo amp.

What is your budget? Quintet system is only 237 on Amazon which leaves a lot of room for a sub. Bose is $1000. Avoid the Bose system.

If your budget is $1000 then you could do a lot better than both systems. What do you want to spend on receiver, speakers and sub? How big of a room? Do you want a Home Theater in a Box or do you want to piece things together?

What is your Budget OP?

For subs, I would look at SVS. They are awesome for the money.

Well I bought the onkyo tx-nr545, I had $1000 budgeted for speakers but wouldn't be sad to go lower.

Thanks for the help

Get the Klipsch Quintet and then look at the SVS PB1000, SB1000, or SB2000 for the Sub. That will keep you under $1,000 and I think you would be VERY happy.

Just buy an SVS Prime Satellite 5.1 system for 1K and be done. You will not be disappointed. LINK

Yeah, I didn't see the OP's comment about being on a limited budget.

The Martin Logans aren't cheap. The ESL line I linked is their entry level actually. Their top end line goes up to 75k for the front pair.

For the OP, take a look at this. This site has recommend systems at different price points:

Hell didn't even think about that. I agree. Forget the Klipsch.

I've heard this system in person and immediately fell in love with it. It would deafen me in my dedicated home theater (small room) but I would buy it in a heartbeat if I could afford it.

I have Kef T Series speakers and and SVS sub, but that would be about 70%-80% over the OPs budget.

I have a very budget system. Receiver, sub and 7 speakers were right at 1k.
