I've been very happy with it. It's my first smart thermostat though so I can't compare it to others.

OK I'll bite. What was the problem? As you prepare your answer I'll remind you 90% of commercial buildings rely on these pos units to run $50k+ hvac systems that perform flawlessly 24/7/365 for years.

spent $140 on this. It's listed more right now but it often has sales.
So it's about $70 more per device. I'd don't consider that a signifcant chunk of change.

I'm in commercial construction......use Honeywell all the time.
Both of them would not keep the correct temp. Would show that is was like 50° in my in the heat of the summer. They worked fine for about a month then the downstairs stat started acting up followed by the upstairs.

I have Ecobee 3 and I am very satisfied so far. The online system monitoring tools are nice and I love the fact that the second sensor allows me to have my bedroom at the temperature I prefer while I sleep regardless of what the rest of the house is doing. I plan to add more sensors and expand the control. I will say that I am in the HVAC & Controls industry so I will spend the $ quicker because it is something I care about. I had two Nests at my prior house and would pick Ecobee over Nest after having both.

Same units you install commercially?
Why do you think they work in other applications but not at your house?

I've not installed those exact units commercially........but have used Honeywell products.
I honestly just think they were defective..........it wouldn't necessarily shy me away from buying another Honeywell product.

I installed 2 of these just a few weeks ago. Liking them so far. About half the size of my previous units. Love that I can adjust the temperature from bed in the middle of the night and lock out everyone -- no more debate on who controls the thermostat!

just cant stress enough how nice this is.
nothing worse than waking up at midnight to discover the SO has cranked the damn heat up to 72 and you're burning up and can quickly fix that shite.
eta passive aggressive CAD has the schedule set to keep checking for tampering and reset itself at midnight, 1am, 2am..
i'm a creep.

That's a great way to fix issues with the SO, but this review really takes the cake:

SHE TOOK THE HOUSE, THE DOG AND THE 401K. BUT I STILL CONTROL THE THERMOSTAT.
My former wife loves to take expensive vacations. We live in Ohio, which doesn’t exactly have extravagant places to see unless you like to watch grass growing or interstate construction. While we make OK money, I’m convinced she felt the need to single handedly improve the US economy by taking elaborate vacations: Broadway shows in New York City, gambling in Las Vegas, Spa’s in Arizona, sightseeing in San Francisco. The airlines know me so well they ask about my dog when I call to make reservations. His name is Fred.
In my attempt to try and save whatever I could so the princess could have her nice things I bought this Honeywell Wi-Fi enabled device so I could adjust the HVAC while we were away piling up massive amounts of debt on Mickey Mouse watches. I thought we could save a few bucks by keeping the temp cool in the winter and warm in the summer. The device was easy to install. I did not have the “blue” connector so I had to re-purpose the green one - this required an adjustment to the actual HVAC unit in our home. There are plenty of videos on Youtube to demonstrate how to do this. Within an hour I was up and running.
The device works flawlessly. You can adjust the temp from anywhere you have a Wi-Fi or cellular signal. Little did I know that my ex had found someone that had a bit more money than I did and decided to make other travel plans. Those plans included her no longer being my wife and finding a new travel partner (Carl, a banker). She took the house, the dog and a good chunk of my 401k, but didn’t mess with the wireless access point or the Wi-Fi enabled Honeywell thermostat.
Since this past Ohio winter has been so cold I’ve been messing with the temp while the new love birds are sleeping. Doesn’t everyone want to wake up at 7 AM to a 40 degree house? When they are away on their weekend getaways, I crank the heat up to 80 degrees and back down to 40 before they arrive home. I can only imagine what their electricity bills might be. It makes me smile. I know this won’t last forever, but I can’t help but smile every time I log in and see that it still works. I also can’t wait for warmer weather when I can crank the heat up to 80 degrees while the love birds are sleeping. After all, who doesn’t want to wake up to an 80 degree home in the middle of June?

I have the nest. I like it very much, but I doubt it is superior to any other of the major WiFi thermostats. I like that I have the Away/Home features, schedules for heating & cooling, set times to cycle my fan (helps some to reduce humidity), and most importantly total control from my mobile devices. I'm sure this is all able to be done with other brands. I like all of this in one app with my Nest Cams too.

I know you're not a fan. I really like them. The quality has been great, and they have not let me down yet. I do not pay, but have considered it. I pay $120/year for dumber shite.

I have a Nest and the coolest thing is the remote functionality from my mobile.

Yeah I've been known to throw anywhere $50-$150 at events I didn't come close to winning.
