I'm wondering if amazon just has some sort of exclusivity period with sony. Fire tv runs android, but the apk will not run on other android tv devices (Nexus player, nvidia). I'll be all over this when i dont have to cast it from an ios device and it can run on my nexus players.

Sounds like vue is for you!

I may give Vue a shot. Their highest package is still less than half what I pay for U-verse, and it appears to offer all the channels that will prevent my wife from bitching about ditching cable. I'd have to buy some more Fire Sticks, though. I have a bunch of Chromecasts, but my wife's the only one with an iOS device.

How many people can use Vue at the same time on different Fire Sticks? That's the issue with Sling TV. If I recall correctly, you cannot stream on multiple devices simultaneously, which would make it useless for families. Is that still the case?

Do not buy Fire Sticks if your intended use for it is Vue..just dont. The video and sound is great, but the guide interface is delayed and not meant for the fire stick.

Fire TV is GREAT with it..solid solid performance all around. Same goes for PS4.

You can use up to 5 devices at one time..but:

1. Only 1 PS4 can be used at a time
2. Only 1 PS3 can be used at a time
3. 5 Fire TVs can be used at a time

So essentially.. you can run: PS4, PS3, 3 Fire TV devices or PS4, 4 Fire TV devices, etc.

I'll add this, you can get away with fire sticks in the bedrooms or on TVs not used frequently...it works and has the same exact UI as the fire tv box but with lag

I have the sticks in my kids bedrooms and they do just fine because the tv stays on nick jr or disney jr

If at all possible, get the fire tv boxes on your primary TVs like vermillion said...you won't regret it

I just did a google search for Vue and nothing came up. How the hell are people supposed to find out about this product if all I get is a damn Twitter link?

This sounds ideal then. I already have one fire stick that I barely use because my chromecasts do what I need. I can put that fire stick in my daughter's room, where she watches the same two channels you mnetioned. I'd likely have to get fire tv boxes for both the living room and master bedroom.

Good to know we can do 5 streams at once. Other than device support, Vue sounds way better than sling.

The full name is "Playstation Vue", so that should help.

I've seen a few commercials for it on TV.

When signing up for Vue, DON'T change the zip code it gives you. Just don't. Also, after you register your PSN on their site, I suggest signing up on your Fire TV, not the computer.

I'm going to wait until the summer when my wife (teacher) is off work. I'll probably have to buy at least a full month for her to determine if it's going to work, plus a fire TV box so she's not dealing with a laggy interface (although, the UVerse boxes we have are incredibly laggy already).

As long as she can watch her channels live and DVR her shows, there shouldn't be an issue.

But, I'll also have to get us away from the AT&T mobile plan, too. We're using the unlimited plan that's available to U-Verse/DirecTV subscribers only. Another battle for another day.

They have been running the ATT Gb/Fibre lines in our neighborhood the last few weeks..I am interested to see if their equipment actually sucks or if Gb speeds will make a difference

for that 20+20, you could just pay $40 to Cox
plus taxes, regulatory fees and STB charges.
