I am new to this game. Got a Firestick and want to run Kodi & Exodus. Should I be running a VPN? If so, any recommendations?

I wouldn't worry about it. Use Exodus or Elysium and you'll be fine. Also you can sideload terrarium tv and use that. I haven't used Kodi since installing terrarium tv. If you use it always go with the GoogleVideo links. Those are the best IMO. Also it has annoying ads so find an ad free apk.

Really any tv and movies. The streams are more reliable that what I've experienced on Kodi lately. Although like the previous poster said if you pay for Read Debrid you'll get much better streams.

Any issues with paying for real debrid on your credit card?

Your CC company may flag it as unauthorized use since the charge comes from a company outside the USA but other than that you shouldn't have an issue.

Use a CC, not a debit card. You should be good.

take that cat5 firestick back and exchange it for a cat1 firetv so your kodi experience will be more fluid.

i tell everyone the same thing. i may or may not have used kodi and some special plugins along with being a card-carrying member of several private torrent sites of some notoriety.

aside from setting my torrent client to a random port and using only private trackers, i've never had a problem, ever. never used a vpn of any type.

those 'digital millenium copyright notices' comcast loves to send out is for the idiots who torrent on public sites like piratebay on the default torrent port and leave the movie seeding on their computer for weeks or months.

comcast collects the lazy. easier to throw the net out and grab the morons who frequent the known sites than try to go after the 'small fish' who use private sites.

i've literally had movies and music from private trackers seeding for years and nary a problem.

This whole thread sounds illegal. I am calling the MPAA.

Changing the port that BitTorrent traffic uses isn't going to protect you one bit. There are much more advanced methods that ISPs have used in the past to target BitTorrent traffic, like packet inspection.

Furthermore it isn't Comcast who is initiating the DMCA notices. ISPs generally couldn't care less if you're pirating, as long as you aren't running getting caught, in which case they are obligated by law to serve you a DMCA notice.

A .torrent file contains tracker information and metadata about the content to be downloaded. When a BitTorrent client connects to the tracker, the tracker provides IP addresses for all of the people downloading and uploading the content. So what copyright holders or those representing them (MPAA, third party companies, etc.) do is create software that looks through public trackers and find infringing content. The software then connects to the tracker and downloads the IP addresses of those sharing the content. They then send a notice to the ISPs that own those IP addresses, and the ISP must forward along the notice of infringement to the customers who are running on that IP address.

The reason that public trackers are more dangerous is because anyone can write software that downloads these IP addresses on public networks. It's much harder to do this for private trackers because the person connecting to the tracker will need an account on the private tracker. While it wouldn't be impossible for them to get accounts on private trackers, their activity will certainly be easily noticed and it won't look like any normal user's traffic (i.e. it will be connecting to tons of torrents and never download anything).

I just bought a Roku Premiere + and a Amazon Fire Stick. I also purchase a year of VPN service from IP Vanish for $58 for the entire year. For that low of a price I figured why take a chance at getting jammed up.
