I use an ipad 99% of the time at home but once in a while I need to do work stuff that requires flash and/or adobe. I was considering a cheap laptop then someone recommended a CB... Are they worth the money? What are their limitations? What will I NOT be able to do on it? Any recs are appreciated

Adobe is a company that makes a wide variety of software, Flash included. By "Adobe" do you mean Acrobat? Photoshop? What?

You will not be able to use any software that is only made for Windows or Mac. There is usually equivalent software that you can use, but if you ever use any niche or specialty software, or if you absolutely need perfect file format compatibility with office docs, the Chromebook might not be for you.

Consider Chromebooks as tablets with keyboards. If you can't get the work done on a tablet, you probably can't do it on the Chromebook.

I mostly need to for education modules related to work. They never work on iPad because I don’t have required plugins or something like that.

What would be a good budget laptop?

I replaced an old Android tablet I used to use with a Samsung Chromebook Plus. I use it to do light web surfing and light office tasks when i am away from a desktop.

The chromebook is good for this with the following caveats:

-Chrome OS is web-centric. So you technically arent going to be using 'apps'. Rather, you are going to be using the same extensions that you would download and install inside your Chrome browser on a regular desktop.

-For the newer chromebooks (like mine), you can install Android apps, and they seem to run very well if you would rather use apps as opposed to web browser extensions. However, at least at this point, the android apps cannot be installed/moved to the sd card, so, if you buy a chromebook, make sure it has a decent amount of internal memory.

Depends on what plugins, but probably not. Sounds like you need Silverlight or something Windows/IE-related.
