Only thing I dislike about the KS is the connect box, but It's the better TV out those two models. FWIW I have a XBR in my livingroom that I picked up in February. It's great but the new Sammies are really nice.

Samsung.
Also keep in mind the KS8 series uses the exact same display panel as the 9000 if you want to save some money.

I bought a 42 inch Samsung a few months ago, and the picture on it is really good.
I bought a 55" Sony 4k last year. Pic is good, but the power chip went out at 8 months. Took them several days to get a guy out to replace the part.
I'm guessing it's a common issue because the Indians at the Sony telephone center immediately knew what part to order for the repair. It has acted a little flaky when coming on a couple times since the repair. This could happen with any brand, but it's got me spooked on Sony now.
It was interesting to see inside it. There is nothing to the electronics but a couple of chips/boards that can be replaced using a screwdriver.
