Restore iPad backup to iPhone?

Getting my kid a phone for her birthday this week, and she was asking if she could restore her iPad backup to the new phone so she would have all of her games progress on the phone. Google seems to indicate it's possible, just curious if anybody has actually done it?

The apps from the iPad are connected to her Apple ID as well as her contacts with her email addy so those should all transfer over. This is all assuming you're planning to transfer all her stuff to an actual iPhone, not some other brand.

If it's an iPhone, yes she can.
When she turns on her phone for the first time and runs through set up, it will ask her if she wants to restore from an iCloud (or iTunes) backup.
In the case of an iCloud backup, she'll be shown her most recent backup. If it's an iTunes backup, she'll have to plug the phone into her computer and wait for the backup option to show up and proceed from there.
The backup will take all the settings, apps, etc. and apply them to the new phone.
