I know this is idiotic for this board, but i had no idea that i could purchase/use my on modem to use with my Comcast Blast! service and save $10 a month.

I would prefer a a modem/router combo.

Any suggestions one which one to buy?

And once i replace it, am i going to have to reconfigure everything?

I think the consensus of this board (by people with tons more tech knowledge than myself) is to get a separate modem and router

I bought the same one a few weeks ago, but haven't made the switch yet...How hard was the setup?

You will have to call in to customer service to have them take the Comcast gateway off of your account. After that, they can add your new one. Just have your MAC address on hand when you call.

You can get into the Motorola's GUI with the username "admin" and password "motorola". You can rename your network, change your password and make other adjustments.

I have the Motorola Surfboard and the Comcast XB3. They both perform about the same to me. If you don't have phone, you should be good to go.

This one will probably be better for $100 more, but the Surfboard may be good enough for your needs:

When I did this it took 6 months to get Comcast to get rid of the modem charge. Kept coming back plus late fees because they couldn't get their shite straight. Finally had go down to the office and raise hell to get to a supervisor who fixed it ASAP. The first lady was about ready to call the cops on me
