This is what makes me sad about cutting the cord. I want 1 system that provides:

1) PS Vue
2) Central repository to hold/download repository of purchased content or blu-rays
3) Music content (Apple Music or Amazon Music, etc)
4) Be able to accept AUX in to get my digital antenna signal for OTA TV.

I guess the closest thing is Amazon Fire TV or PS4? I really would love to be able to use some of the storage on AppleTV or Amazon to be able to download "Frozen" to its internal HD so I don't have to stream it everytime and waste bandwidth.

Thoughts?

To be fair, you can't get all that with one system if you keep the cord attached, either.

Unfortunately, the studios don't trust honest users, so as usual the easiest way to do what you want is to "steal" the content via torrents or usenet. That way you can manage your media the way you want.

But you're right, I think. The closest you can get right now to your "one system" is probably the FireTV. Obviously Vue and music content won't be a problem there. You don't get a direct antenna in, but you can use a Tablo or HDHomerun I think to get basically the same thing. As for your central repository of "purchased" content, you'll probably have to use alternative methods as I mentioned, and then do something like run a Plex server and access your media with the Plex app on the FireTV.

Would a PS4 be viable? It would allow me to run PSVue as well as Hulu, HBO Go, Netflix (i think). Does the PS3 or PS4 have an attachment that will accept a COAX cable for OTA TV (similar to the Xbox one)?
Finally, what does Playstation use as it's store for music/movies? It has it's own, right?

ETA: The ONLY downside is that I wouldnt be able to stream in 4k. Which isn't a big deal since I don't have a 4k TV.

PS4 is a viable option for those that are more tech savvy IMO.

I used the PS4 for about a week, but switched to the FireTV. The FireTv lends it lard more to the non-tech user (wife, mother-in-law etc.) Also using the gaming controller sucks on he PS4 and I didn't care for their media remote either.

The PS4 does not accept a coax for OTA channels like the XBOne does. I bought a $40 digital tuner for the living room, and use the on board receives for the other tvs in the house. The digital tuner box can record, but I don't use it. We mainly use the OTA to catch the news, and will use it to watch football when the time comes.

And to answer your question about moving content already owned to a different ecosystem- I'm pretty sure you are out of luck. Just keep the AppleTV as well, not a big deal to switch sources- we had to do the same thing.

I hear ya man, thanks. If only the PSVue would come to AppleTV OR even allow the PSVue app on an iPhone to be airplayed to an appletv, that'd work too.

Another plus for the Fire Tv as opposed to my older Apple TV (2nd version I believe) is that you can add apps to on your own. As it stands I can only use what was preloaded.

The newer apple tvs are much more expensive that the Fire Tv as well. I caught mine on sale for $85.

You can also load Kodi very easily.

I can't find any information on Playstation Vue for commercial applications. DirecTV charges businesses an arm and a leg for their service. They specifically charge a lot more for businesses since that's considered a public performance based on the number of video displays and the building occupancy. I can't see where Sony has made that same provision on their service.

Yet.

Vue also works just as good one the ps3 as a ps4. In fact if you have a ps4 and want to watch vue on another tv in another room you will have to have a different device than another ps4. As the user id that is connected to the service only allows it to be logged into one ps4 or ps3.

You can't airplay to appletv, but you could get a cheap chromecast and use your iPhone to stream to it. So just keep your appletv hooked up and have a chromecast also. Again not ideal, but you do have options. Gotta weigh that with the amount of money being saved.

Best guess on Lafayette getting local channels? I picked up an antenna but the only major network I'm picking up is ABC...

Something's not right, you should get a couple dozen channels anywhere near lafayette.

Check your TV settings. Make sure "cable" mode is turned off (or switched to "antenna" mode). Also make sure it's looking for digital instead of analog.

Not 1, but you could do it with 2 systems, I'd imagine.

I don't think it's that big of a deal to do it on 2 compared to 1.

Agreed. I went the Amazon Fire TV route + Antenna OTA TV. My only remaining issue is, how can I copy Purchased content (like Frozen which is currently tied to my Apple iTunes account) over to a portable HD or memory card and use that directly with Amazon Fire TV device?
Purpose would be to prevent repetitive streaming of the same damn movie over and over daily, which eats my monthly bandwidth allotment

So I didn't see anyone answer, does PS VUe app on Amazon Fire tv do sound in only stereo or Dolby digital? I'm watching the USA soccer game now and my receiver is only showing a stereo sound output.

I think it's only stereo. I never noticed be caused I've been to lazy to hook up my rear speakers...for the last 4 yrs.

In my defense, my attic sucks- can't stand up in it and it's covered in blown insulation...
