This seems too good to be true, how can Sony get all the major players involved with their packages yet apple cannot get off the ground floor of negotiations

Sony is also a content creator/distributor, Apple isnt. Makes sense that It makes sense that they would play ball with Sony over Apple. Nobody really like to play with Apple anyways since they are the worlds worst patent troll.

Boom.

Can't wait to try it this weekend.

It appears they don't have any android apps. This isn't necessarily a deal breaker but the experience needs to be damn good to make up for it.

I really like the live channels app, youtube and plex voice search on the Nexus Player. FireTV has some great features too, this may tilt the scales in FireTV's favor.

It's definitely a price savings/hassle decision to make. Nothing is perfect, but in my case I find it worth it for the $110/mo savings I'm getting over cable.

how is this saving you $110/mo over cable?

I have time warner and for $90 before tax i get 100mb internet, 200 channels, 1 box and unlimited calling.

I really don't see the appeal of this, as i get way more sports networks with the TW bundle i have now.

My friend tried it out for the free trial and he liked it but he said the ps network always went down and he couldn't stand that part. I will try it out and see how it works.

Has anyone had problems with the psnetwork keep going out on them or was that a one time problem when it went down? I dont want to spend $40 and can't watch if the network keeps going down. I really want to try this out and even my wife wants to get it.

There's a 7-day free trial

You won't get billed until the trial ends, and you can prevent even that by disabling the auto renewal

Just check it out

Thanks for the info. If I buy a playstation 3 slim will it still work and have the same vue interface? I was going to get that one since its a lot cheaper and I don't really play too many games.

It was very similar to my PS4, Yes. Maybe give Playstation Vue a call..I spoke to them on the phone 2 days ago and they were very helpful.

ETA - Do you have a fire tv / stick?

One persons's full review of it from reddit

quote:

1st of all...wow.
I'd have to admit, I was skeptical at first. The race to a real cough cord cutting service has officially started....& it starts with Sony's Vue.
My review mostly using FireTV stick 1st gen & iPhone 6 with iOS 9.

Pros:
1. Multiple streams. (Some limitations, but it the $29.99 package you can have up to 5 simultaneously streams active
2. 55 Channels! Including, ABC, NBC, & Fox ON DEMAND (So long Hulu?). Some featured include: ESPN, ESPN2, HGTV, NatGeo, FS1 & FS2, NBCSN, USA, TNT, TBS, AMC, Discovery & Animal Planet
3. Probably not well known yet, but YOU CAN LOGIN TO ALL WATCH ANYWHERE APPS USING PLAYSTATION VUE AS A CABLE PROVIDER!!! So basically, if the channel app exists on a platform you should be able to authenticate using you me credentials as PlayStation Vue is listed as a cable provider. (Confirmed this using AppleTV watch anywhere apps).
4. Slim bundle of $29.99 is priced exactly right. Double the channel offering, $9 more than SlingTV.
5. Cloud DVR for your marked favorite shows (Admittedly, I've only assigned a couple HGTV shows as favorites, so haven't much tested this).
6. Picture quality is phenomenal. I have a 60 inch LCD 1080 TV and the picture is crisp. No buffering, no quality degrading so far (have AT&T Fiber home internet).
7. UI. This is obviously subjective, however I stand firmly that the user interface is significantly better than SlingTV's.

Cons:
1. On-Demand content tends to lag in audio vs picture.
2. Some general slowness navigating the UI on the FireTV stick (maybe just a 1st gen issue)
3. Some content is "mobile restricted", not allowing you to view on my iPhone 6. (Minor issue).
4. Unable to locate parental controls (admittedly I'm not a parent so not a big issue for me & my wife).
5. Also, unable to locate stream quality options to change (sorry Comcast data cap people), seems it streams all channels in full HD.
6. For those on Android & Roku, even though lack of support for having a dedicated PlayStation Vue app, try using Vue as your Cable provider through the watch anywhere apps in the interim.
7. Missing History & A&E channels (hard to put that as a con though, but for you guys with wives not having A&E might be a deal breaker).

VS SlingTV:
1. Significantly more channels offered in the $29.99 package to the $20 Sling basic.
2. Sling does have A&E & History that includes on demand options.
3. Sling doesn't have a cloud DVR option.
4. Vue allows you to sign on through watch anywhere apps (Sling only has WatchESPN)
5. Sling allows you to control stream quality. So far Vue does not.
6. Umm hello sports fans!! Vue has ESPN, ESPN 2, NBCSN, & FS1 & FS2! Even with Sling's Sports Xtra, you cannot get NBCSN or FS1 & FS2.
If I missed anything, please comment. I'm sure I have. All in all, despite a minor cumbersome setup process for the PlayStation Vue, I will no doubt cancel SlingTV first thing in the morning.

Tonight I will. This is what I have been waiting for; going to try the free trial. I have a PS3 I can try it on, and it might make me get a PS4.
